The Burning Bush

Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb. And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.–Exodus 3:1-2
Becoming the burning bush is a culminating initiation that results from surrendering earthly earthy desires and will for the pure heavenly fire. To the spiritual eye, you appear as a flaming bush, burning with spiritual light.
The burning bush initiation is the result of the soul’s personal desire to achieve and to know, which is great enough to consume the self-will. This causes the spinal column, medulla oblongata, pineal body and pituitary gland, to work together to become the burning bush.

Edna Lister on the Initiation of the Burning Bush

Objectified I AM consciousness of Oversoul is perfectly symbolized by the Voice in the burning bush, the blinding Light that protected Daniel in the lions’ den, and by the chariot of fire in which Elijah ascended.–Edna Lister, January 12, 1936.

Your personal burning bush is designed to burn the remainder of your self-dross.–Edna Lister, August 1, 1949

Unconquerable faith provides the outer manifestation of abundance for those who pray before the altar and ignite the flame of the Holy Spirit on their sacrifice of self. Nothing limits the burning flame that can energize you and your creations. Who will approach God as you, little me or I AM? God created I AM to serve on high altars as a conqueror to hear the Messenger. God created I AM to become an oracle and minister of radiance and glory. I AM ascends to become a great being of Light possessed of the Holy Spirit, whose flames fill you, opening heaven’s gates until you become victorious.–Edna Lister, The Flame on the Altar, December 14, 1952

Initiations on earth compound with those you take in heaven. If you love God, flames spring from your feet to your heart and shoulders. You become like a burning bush. You could answer all questions, but without love, the flames would remain about your feet. You must stand in your own burning bush to receive. Lay your shoes aside and cease being body-conscious. Once you see God," you will have stood before your burning bush and faced God as a Christed One. Declare, I look into the Light. I see the face of my Father and am glorified, and His Name is wonderful. As you love God, you look upon Him.–Edna Lister, March 7, 1957

Shekinah is a Hebrew word used often in place of God, or Lord. It is from the root noun, shekan, meaning to live or to dwell. Shekinah means God as a Presence, and represents the radiance of glory manifested as degrees of radiance from the Source to earth, where it appears as a soft Light. You may see it as blinding light shining from a storm cloud.
The Shekinah haloed the Hebrew tabernacle, and was the Light of the Ark of the Covenant, the shining cloud over Mt. Sinai, and the fire in the burning bush. The Light of Shekinah is the ultimate substance of the Living God, the Light condensed to form your physical body, designed to be the temple for your soul. Nothing negative can exist when you allow that Light free access to every part of your body.–Edna Lister, Shekinah Splendor, December 15, 1963

The burning bush story (Exodus 3:1-8) is more than legend; it is a history as well. The story appears in Exodus, Mark 12:26 and Luke 20:37; Stephen repeated it in Acts 7:23-37. In man, through love of God and obedience to His law, the spine and nerves within the head form the framework for the burning bush. Light descends and awakens the creative fire at the base of the spine; the fire fountains upward, bursts open the crown, and ignites the nervous system into the burning bush.
The comprehension of all that you think you know sets you afire. The Sermon on the Mount holds the directions in how to become the burning bush. When you sacrifice self to lead soul from bondage in Egypt, out of the land of self, you become responsible for family, office, community, and country. They cannot see the Light through the darkness, so a servant of all the Power must lead. When you are an ambassador of Light, you become a burning bush. Those in need will follow you when you set yourself in the ascension groove.
When you waver, your aura flames, your burning bush, is reabsorbed into the Light from which you invoked it, and you must start again. God has given every soul the power to become this burning perfection.–Edna Lister, Seven Manifestations of God: The Burning Bush, November 2, 1969

The Story of the Burning Bush

Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb. And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.
And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground. Moreover he said, I AM the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God. And the Lord said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; and I AM come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.
Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them. Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.
And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt? And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain. And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?
And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, the Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations. Go, and gather the elders of Israel together, and say unto them, The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, appeared unto me, saying, I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt: and I have said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt unto the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, unto a land flowing with milk and honey.–Exodus 3:1-17

New Testament on the Burning Bush

Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.–Luke 20:37-38

The "burning bush" is a formal initiation.

Quote

And (glancing on my own thin, veinèd wrist),
In such a little tremor of the blood
The whole strong clamour of a vehement soul
Doth utter itself distinct.
Earth’s crammed with heaven,
And every common bush afire with God:
But only he who sees, takes off his shoes.
–Elizabeth Barrett Browning
