Light, The Absolute Principle

By Linda Mihalic

Man defines light as the natural agent that stimulates sight and makes things visible. Visible light is electromagnetic radiation whose wavelength falls within the range to which the human retina responds, i.e. between about 390 nm (violet light) and 740 nm (red). White light consists of a roughly equal mixture of all visible wavelengths, which can be separated to yield the colours of the spectrum, as was first demonstrated conclusively by Newton. In the 20th century it became apparent that light consists of energy quanta called photons which behave partly like waves and partly like particles. The velocity of light in a vacuum is 299,792 km per second.Oxford English Dictionary

Light waves transmit information about our universe of time and space. Most of what we know about the universe has come to us through man’s study of light, which began as religious inquiry rather than scientific investigation. As recorded in his oldest documents, man has always considered light and fire as life-givers and sustainers, which flow from God to vivify His Creation:

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.—Genesis 1:1-4.

Light is the Godhead, the universal absolute principle, the source of the emanations. Light is. God is. God is Light. Light is God, externalized in manifestation. Light pours from the Godhead through the universe as waves or emanations of Light as Wisdom, Love and the Logos, the Word. Light is the original, primordial, universal substance of life sparks. A life spark is the smallest particle of invisible, indivisible Light-Substance from which all creation is formed. God is Light.

“God covers Himself with light as with a garment.”—Psalm 104:2

Law, which is the framework of Creation, describes the nature of the Light, which is God. Laws describe the infinite manifestations of forms, all of which are made of Light, and how that Light is differentiated into innumerable living souls. Laws define the nature of the relationship between us and our Source, which is God. Laws govern the nature of our vertical relationship with God, and our horizontal relationship with humankind. Where life does not proceed according to the rule of law, the result is without structure or form, void, the destructive chaos of confusion. Life without law is a body without a skeleton, unable to rise above the muck that nourishes protozoa.

Lew Paxton Price defines light as an easier way to say electromagnetic radiation, or that part of electromagnetic radiation which we can see. Other physicists and cosmologists have attempted to define the nature of the One Light by describing its various aspects. We see only a fraction of the electromagnetic spectrum of Light, as we see only the tip of an iceberg. The One Light encompasses the full spectrum of energy, and though science calls electromagnetic energy by several names, it remains the One Light in various states.

To explore other ways of understanding the One Light, search on the following terms: Aether, cosmological ether, dynamic ether, electromagnetic radiation, optics, unifying aether. Each of these topics is a trailhead to a new adventure in learning.

Light acts as both a particle (photon) and a wave. In its particle state, Light exemplifies God as the Substance of Love in creation. In its wave form, we can see the Mind of Wisdom projecting itself on the carrier wave of the Logos, the Word of Action.

Physicists and cosmologists have been discussing the evidence of variability in the speed of light, once held to be constant—a keystone in physics: Search on the term variable speed of light. Energy and matter (the One Light in wave and packet forms) are essentially one thing: Search on the term dark matter.

Recent experiments have demonstrated that photons (light particles) can exist in two places at once: Search on light, photon or particle in two places at once. Because Light is God as all that is, being everywhere at once is not a difficult feat; understanding it is. Finally, the universe really is holographic in nature: Search the internet on holographic universe. The reality of a holographic universe perfectly illustrates God’s omniscience, omnipresence and omnipotence.

Edna Lister on Light

Only the Light brings all the hidden things to the surface.—Edna Lister, February 1, 1933.

Light is primary substance, which we call life sparks.—Edna Lister, Contact, Continuity and Light, March 29, 1934.

Light does overcome all darkness.—Edna Lister, September 6, 1938.

The soul’s goal is Light and only Light.—Edna Lister, October 12, 1938.

All law is the law of full Light, in which is no darkness at all.—Edna Lister, December 14, 1938.

Your Source of Light is your Father above.—Edna Lister, January 13, 1939.

Light is Light. Law is law. Light and law may not be set aside. All life is contained in Light. In it is no darkness. Truth lives in Light forever. Be of the law of Light. Praise that Light is the only truth and all truth is contained in Light. Therefore, only Light, which is truth, and truth, which is Light, shall endure. All else shall fall of its own weight. There is no weight to Light. There is no heaviness to truth.

“Only Light, which is truth, and truth, which is Light, shall endure.”

Truth carries itself, because Light can only lift. Light cannot fall, neither can it fail. Truth knows its own and so shall it create its own. The law of the Light, therefore, is to know Light. Let Light place its seal upon you and so shall your creations stand established. Waver not, neither have any shadow of turning. Let Light lift you and let truth establish your foundations.—Edna Lister, June 6, 1940.

Light is all, the substance of your body, your affairs. It is the life that you are and are to become.—Edna Lister, October 25, 1940.

Light is the consuming fire of love that burns away dross.—Edna Lister, June 3, 1941.

You must desire the Light above all else and seek it for itself alone, just to worship the Light, not to get something. The Light is all there is. When you give enough to the Light, then it fills you and you become the Light — but you must give it self completely in worship as the only Light of glory, forgetting self in worship of and service to the Light. Then you shine.—Edna Lister, December 30, 1941.

Light is what the soul becomes.—Edna Lister, May 16, 1942.

Light is all the Power there is, on earth or in heaven. Light is free. And God has equipped you to use all the Light you desire. You may not demand for yourself, but you can use all the Light and the love that you spend time releasing by your efforts of mind, heart and soul.—Edna Lister, March 24, 1943.

The only way to follow the Light is to face the Light, no matter what. You must completely let go of all negativity before you face the Light.—Edna Lister, May 30, 1944.

Light is invulnerable. Once the soul takes charge, you are invulnerable. The great soul is the one who can stand and be used by all Power and Light. The greater the use, the greater the soul.—Edna Lister, July 21, 1945.

We worship God as both personality and principle, which satisfies the need to "understand" intellectually, while encompassing personality, which we adore, and principle, which is the absolute framework of the universe. We worship God as Light, which contains all principles.—Edna Lister, Creative Laws: The Keys of the Kingdom, September 1, 1945.

Light is the "Spirit of the Lord," which goes before you to make the way clear and easy.—Edna Lister, December 9, 1946.

It may take physical light millions of years to come to earth, but when God moves, the spiritual Light moves forth instantly. The Light of God finishes that which was begun as a thought or idea in the mind of man. The keynote of Light is set in the mind of the one who is lifting.—Edna Lister, Jesus’ Prayer of the Ages, April 27, 1947.

Light is the only law. It is all you shall ever need. You have access to limitless Light. Use it freely in love.—Edna Lister, December 7, 1948.

“Light, being love, fulfills all promises.”

There is but one law, the law of Light. Light always covers darkness, including the transgressions of others. Light, being love, fulfills all promises. A part-time love of Light cannot suffice in a day of tribulation, nor can you escape the law of Light. What you do in secret is always uncovered. No one who has learned that Light is the only law can cover any thought, word or deed for long. For the just and the unjust, it is the same. Therefore, you must heed and speak no word that you do not desire the world to know. No man or woman on earth, high or low, can hide a whisper. No one can keep a secret, for the power of love from above opens it up. So it is.—Edna Lister, December 13, 1948.

Much hate is directed at anyone whose Light is unbearable.—Edna Lister, January 31, 1949.

Light is the original substance from which everything descended. When Light moves in and possesses you, you become perfect. If you leave any part out, Light doesn’t occupy it.—Edna Lister, February 4, 1949.

God said, "Let there be Light" and the Light moved forth as Mind, Substance and Power, containing all Wisdom, Love and Joy. These principles are your divine inheritance.—Edna Lister, From Light to Form as a Creator, August 2, 1949.

Light is the original substance of which all things are made, according to the first chapter of Genesis and John.—Edna Lister, September 3, 1949.

Light is the basis of all form.—Edna Lister, November 25, 1949.

Light is all the life there is, free for the effort of looking up. Look up and consider the truth of reality, the reality of God, the infallible and immovable One.—Edna Lister, December 14, 1949.

All things are made of Light, which is always flowing and available. The Light as the Power does the work. Light is the way of ascension. All you do and all you can use is Light to create the right emotional and mental conditions for God to move in and heal.—Edna Lister, Five Steps in Ascension, April 16,1950.

Light is all that matters. Follow the Light up, and the answer is at the end.—Edna Lister, September 18, 1950.

Light is God in action.—Edna Lister, June 25, 1951.

The feminine principle of Love is taking us home to God. Love is Light. It is the strongest element in the universe, yet its Light is gossamer and we may bear it without a burden.—Edna Lister, Prayer: The Soul’s Aspiration, June 7, 1953.

“The more constant your standing under the Light, the greater the miracle.”

The more constant your standing under the Light, the greater the miracle, for the name of the Light is "Miracle." And when you are possessed by the Light, you become the miracle, and the miracle releases the ultimate in perfection, which demands transformation into itself. When your body does not respond, or any part of it hurts, you are not a miracle and the part that hurts is "soul-empty."—Edna Lister, Look Up and Be Alive, October 11, 1953.

Light contains all three Emanations as One. We worship God as the Light.—Edna Lister, December 16, 1954.

To stand as the Light is a challenge to darkness.—Edna Lister, Your Broadcasting Station, October 2, 1955.

From plant to creature, from son of man to Son of God, all seek the light. Light is magnetic to a seed or bulb in the ground or to the soul seeking the Light.—Edna Lister, Our Divine Gift, December 25, 1955.

"In the beginning, God created." Genesis is the opening vibration of all that becomes. "Let there be Light" and from the Light God created all, God as all. John said, "In the beginning was the Word ... In him was life; and the life was the light of men" (John 1:1,4). In Genesis we have God as Light ready to become. In John, the Light is already in man, ready to express.

"Ye are the light of the world. ... Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."—Matthew 5:14,16. This is Jesus’ prescription for moving up in consciousness to express from the higher, not the lower creative centers. God created us to express Light through intuition and illumination. Light is modified for creation and you personalize it as your expression.—Edna Lister, The Light, Your Expression, November 4, 1956.

“Light is God in action.”

The Word, Life and Light are all God as Himself. The Word is God as Mind. Life is God as action. Light is God as substance. "Let there be Light" is a general statement of principle. John speaks of the Word, which is man in expression as the personality phase of God. Mind deals with sacrifice. The action is service. The substance is expression.—Edna Lister, November 5, 1956.

"Seek ye first the kingdom of God."—Matthew 6:33, and move up into the Light. The first law of the universe is to seek the Light.—Edna Lister, Conquering Space, October 15, 1957.

The Light transcends and transmutes everything life can produce.—Edna Lister, February 5, 1958.

Light is the source of atomic power and you cannot destroy it. Standing in the pure Light of God, you are immortal, invulnerable, invincible and immovable. You must remain in the Light, where Power possesses you.—Edna Lister, Come Ye Apart, April 20, 1958.

The River of Life and Light is moving through you always. When you drop in consciousness the river passes overhead and does not flow through. When you go to bed, you must feel that you love God even more today than you did yesterday.—Edna Lister, July 24, 1958.

When God is first in your life, finding your way along the path is simple. You walk in the Light as Light.—Edna Lister, Ten Commandments and Beatitudes, November 4, 1958.

The Light is law. Bless the Light, for it shall increase according to your blessing of it.—Edna Lister, April 6, 1959.

Light is the only miracle. If you do not have a miracle, your Light is adulterated. Look then to your soul to see what Light is in you. When the Light is full-blown, you have your miracles.—Edna Lister, Feed My Sheep, November 22, 1959.

Light is great enough to convert all darkness of evil into Light, great enough to overcome war. You may know how much Light you need by how much darkness is presented for lifting. A miracle is only pure Light.—Edna Lister, Feed My Sheep, November 22, 1959.

To the ancients, who possessed no astronomical instruments and looked at the heavens with the eyes of children, the earth was level, a plain of unknown extent. They speculated, but had no direct knowledge. Their observations taught them that the sun rose every day, sometimes near and sometimes far, and traveled across the sky. When it set, it took the light and brought darkness. Another celestial body was visible at night, the moon, which was sometimes a thin crescent and then grew into a full orb. The moon had the same limits as the sun, it appeared and disappeared.

Thick darkness envelops man when light disappears. He is left alone with himself; his existence is blank, a nothing. Only the return of Light can restore his equilibrium, his life. Light, then, became man’s first divinity. Poets, who imagined a chaos that gave birth to a cosmos, sang of Light. Light was the first teaching of Orpheus, Moses and theologians throughout the ages. Light was the life of the universe, the friend of man, the substance of the gods and of the soul.—Edna Lister, Ancient Divinities of the 33 Degrees of the Via Christa, November 24, 1959.

The Light is the Light. It has ever been the Light and will always be. It cannot be less; it can grow more brilliant in quality and quantity, but it cannot be less than the Light. It can be condensed until it becomes visible mass, then it can again be expanded until it is visible light.

You are standing in a sphere of Light that revolves around you as you move. When you rejoice, it expands, and condenses as a healing ray under your spoken Word. It is a never-ceasing cycle of glory that grows as you keep lifting, blessing, and praying. You can accomplish anything when under the Light, in the Light, held within the Light, and you can use what is in your sphere.—Edna Lister, December 11, 1959.

Light contains absolutely all that you need for creation. A creator, standing as the servant of God before an altar, merely speaks the Word to release Light to move in to do the perfect work. No interference is needed or tolerated. Light is sufficient to do the whole job.—Edna Lister, January 28, 1960.

Sins are irresponsible or degrading choices made against the Light. Forgiveness of sin means that you are given enough love substance on credit to pay your gravity debts to the Light.—Edna Lister, How Can I Apply Law to My Life? June 7, 1960.

The only way darkness can get through Light is via an individual’s negativity.—Edna Lister, October 10, 1960.

Darkness cannot exist where Light is. Darkness cannot fight Light.—Edna Lister, August 3, 1961.

Light is the great principle that works as the lesser principles of color, tone, number, name (spoken Word) and form. Light is an ecstasy without definition. You are an instrument for the release of its Power. You release all its parts and attributes (Love, Wisdom and the Holy Spirit) at once. You may reach many levels of consciousness, for heaven has many degrees. Light can do its perfect work at once only by breaking through all barriers. Light is above earthly joy, which is still an outer state of consciousness. Joy is an anticipating quality of the soul. When you ascend into the Light, you experience this ecstasy of soul. You must ascend to it, for it descends only as and through you. Light’s ecstasy must saturate you before you can bring it back as pure, absolute Light, otherwise it is only relative. When you pray for something beyond the self, you are in Light. There are lesser and greater lights. When you enter the full Light, then Light is all you know. When your entire consciousness is simply joyous praise of God, you are in the Light!—Edna Lister, August 3, 1961.

Light is Light; darkness is not Light. Anything less than the declaration, "This is Light," is darkness.—Edna Lister, August 21, 1961.

Remember only Light. This is the only safe thing to think and do — no doubt.—Edna Lister, September 6, 1961.

You must set the pace as a living ensample of Light, and you may hold nothing in you to evade the Light.—Edna Lister, September 7, 1961.

Every cell, molecule and atom is Light; accept this. Nothing should be less than Light. All is a matter of acceptance only.—Edna Lister, September 10, 1961.

The Shekinah glory is perfect as the Father in expression. Being perfect as your Father in heaven is simple, for what else can the Light be? Therefore, to hold the Light and nothing else is the perfect way of expression. The Light is balanced and not conscious of being the Light; therefore, it cannot congratulate itself on perfection; it is.—Edna Lister, October 1, 1961.

If you do not stand in the Light, you are dead to the Light. This is existing, not living.—Edna Lister, Sardis: The Fifth Church of Revelation, October 24, 1961.

Jesus’ whole message was to lift humanity from the creature self to the creator soul. To reach for the stars successfully, you must sacrifice all inner conflict between self and soul, to seek soul integration. First you must fix your identity in the Light of God. Integration is impossible in the darkness where each unit of "self" insists on having its own way.—Edna Lister, Healing, November 3, 1961.

“Jesus’ whole message was to lift humanity
from the creature self to the creator soul.”

The battle that you win does not determine the future, but what you do after you win. We must clean up earth’s carnage and evil, and the only way is according to our obedience to Light. Stand under the Light and be Light.—Edna Lister, November 27, 1961.

There is always a line of golden Light between you and your Source. It is there, if you look for it.—Edna Lister, December 7, 1961.

Our way is the Way of Light.—Edna Lister, December 18, 1961.

Stand in the Light; ascend into the Light for two minutes, before speaking. Ask for what you want, then use the right statements.—Edna Lister, March 22, 1962.

Remember, ask no "whys," because the answer is that you have turned from the Light when you ask "why."—Edna Lister, March 29, 1962.

The greatest gift is to look past the face of darkness and worship the Light. As long as you can criticize another’s darkness, you are worshiping the darkness in that person.—Edna Lister, April 2, 1962.

There is nothing beyond algebra except the metaphysically postulated dot extended into a line of Light from the Source. This is the platform (plane) upon which we stand, the hub of the wheel of life.—Edna Lister, Heaven, a Place to Fill, April 10, 1962.

As you ascend, true freedom surrounds you so perfectly with Light that you cannot take darkness into your aura; you do not ever hear an unfair word spoken. To "stand in the Light" means to be balanced and to have equilibrium.—Edna Lister, Heaven, a Place to Fill, April 10, 1962.

The electricity that powers a light bulb starts with rain and snow in the mountains. We must condense enough energy and Light to lead us back to the original Creative Fiat, "Let there be Light!" We can trace that back through every cell, molecule and atom. "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."—Matthew 5:14-16. Love must give its Light.—Edna Lister, What Is Illumination? May 13, 1962.

When the Light in you is great enough, your family sees you as a mirror. They see their own negatives reflected and may even indulge in calling you names.—Edna Lister, What Is Illumination? May 13, 1962.

Every soul must appear before a Council of Light before coming to earth. Each brings his or her own Light, yet they give special Light to each soul while he or she is there. One preparing to become a mother might say, "I just want to be a good mother," so she takes that much of the Light and no more. She may be a good mother but forget to be a good wife and thus lose her husband. You might as well say, "I just want to get by."

We all bring our Light with us. Do you go back for more each night and fill your body in the morning? Few are multiple-minded. You can be, if you go back repeatedly for more Light. God’s abundance of Light is endless.—Edna Lister, What Is Illumination? May 13, 1962.

When you stand in the Light, the Light is perfect. When you stand in the Light, you are in ecstasy, not thinking, just being. Healing is Light allowed in with no resistance.—Edna Lister, June 7, 1962.

Your aura is the Light that emanates through you.—Edna Lister, How Strong Is Your Net? December 2, 1962.

Light is offensive to those who refuse to live in light.—Edna Lister, Power to Transform, December 4, 1962.

Dig out your faults by ascending into Light so that it can dry up the roots of your "weeds."—Edna Lister, Your Field of Wheat and Tares, December 9, 1962.

Do not waver. Darkness can appropriate no Power that is sent out as Light. Stand definitely stable at all times.—Edna Lister, The Rose as the Crown, June 30, 1963.

Einstein said that mass accelerated to the speed of light becomes Light. John said the Light is the life of God. Your atomic body is Light. It fills you and you use this mass of light energy for healing. Pray, stand and wait until Light fills the body as mass.—Edna Lister, August 15, 1963.

Principle is One in the Unity of Light, and cannot be separated from the Light.—Edna Lister, God as Principle Applied Under Logic and Reason, November 5, 1963.

“Light is offensive to those who refuse to live in the Light.”

As the Elect, we cannot act or speak differently than our vows. We have vowed to live in the Light, and Light has registered our vows. The action of Power is instantaneous; the reaction of law is faster than before. The spoken Word has become so powerful that even a thought may trigger the law’s reaction. If you send out Light discolored by self, it returns to you sevenfold as words you must then apologize for and eat.—Edna Lister, Your Sacred Light, November 10, 1963.

You want to be a living ensample of Light, not of what you think is Light. When you say, "Let there be Light," you are saying, "Let my identity with God be established."—Edna Lister, Your Sacred Light, November 10, 1963.

There is no peace for the world or individuals except through understanding, standing under the Light.—Edna Lister, Love, Your Radar, November 17, 1963.

When you see evil, surround it with Light. Put Light around the darkness to lift it.—Edna Lister, The Greater Mystery, Your Inner Eye, December 8, 1963.

You can obey laws, but must know the reasons behind them to make a just appraisal. A just appraisal is to apply Light from above to the situation.—Edna Lister, The Sword of Truth, a Flaming Scepter of Power, April 19, 1964.

The Bible is the revelation of Light. The Great Pyramid is the measurement of Light.—Edna Lister, The Ten Commandments and the Beatitudes, April 21, 1964.

God manifests as Light; the Light is God. Light has no outer form. We worship God as the Light first.—Edna Lister, The Ten Commandments and the Beatitudes, April 21, 1964.

You can do anything when you stand in the Light twenty-four hours a day.—Edna Lister, Life, Your Glory and Splendor, April 26, 1964.

The universe is illumined by three kinds of light: Material light, intellectual insight, and spiritual luminosity.—Edna Lister, Personality, Energy and Pattern, October 27, 1964.

The spiritual breath is pure Light. You breathe that Light with every conscious high breath you inhale, and each breath creates a physical reaction as Light becomes energy. Your body is made of God’s one Light and Light contains all Power, Substance, Mind. You become that which you desire according to your imagination, thinking and desire, your three creative tools.

We are messiahs in the making as we ascend nearer to the Source of Light, as we inhale and accept more Light as ours. The will of God for us is all perfection when we let the Light possess us.—Edna Lister, What Is a Messiah? December 13, 1964.

“The Bible is the revelation of Light.”

When asked, "What do you teach?" — my answer is, "I bring the Light." If you live in the Light, you take the Light wherever you go. You cannot turn on the master switch in a room and leave a dark spot in the center. You cannot be Light if dark spots remain in your body; you are not Light enough, or you have turned off the Light. You cannot carry full Light if you have any dark spots. The everlasting Shekinah glory is the Light to ascend to, in which to remain.—Edna Lister, April 8, 1965.

The Light of prophecy sheds a brilliance, limited only by temporary shadows imposed by the lifting of evil from earth.—Edna Lister, The First One Through, May 2, 1965.

The only gift you can give to God is your lifting of some darkness to be changed into Light.—Edna Lister, Life, Detriment or Glory? June 6, 1965.

Nothing is too hard or too long to the persevering soul. Light can outlast any darkness, and make any weakness into strength.—Edna Lister, Comprehension and Recompense, November 7, 1965.

Follow the Master. Worship God, the Light. Don’t worship the forms.—Edna Lister, Ephesus, New Lives for Old, May 1, 1966.

Light is transforming us into our original image and likeness of God, transfiguring us because this living soul substance is all-comprehending, all-knowing, all compassion and all joy. This is God’s endowment for us.—Edna Lister, October 20, 1966.

You are Light of the world. Your destiny is to be the Light with the right attitude toward the world.—Edna Lister, Do You Follow Your Path of Destiny? December 4, 1966.

Light is all. Light is the Mind that creates and the Substance that becomes the physical form of Creation.—Edna Lister, March 26, 1967.

You move toward the Light, which envelops and fills you until you finally become that Light.—Edna Lister, Faith and Strength, Peter and Andrew, May 7, 1967.

"Let there be Light" includes worship, but is greater than worship.—Edna Lister, June 20, 1967.

When the Light around you is great, it can drive others berserk.—Edna Lister, October 26, 1967.

The Light is the Light, and the Light uncovers darkness. When you declare it, Light absorbs the darkness.—Edna Lister, June 13, 1968.

“Light is transforming us into our original image and likeness of God.”

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men."—John 1:1-4. That Word became the Light of man.

We are not only able to contact the Light, but we are the Light. Even our body, that outer sheath given to us as a covering for the soul that it may become visible in an outer world, is condensed from this Light. This Light is all the Mind, the Power and the Substance from which all foundation principles are formed.—Edna Lister, Let There Be Light, March 16, 1969.

The Light is ours. We are the Light. We just think of ourselves as Light. The Light is One, and when we are one with it, there is no time or space.—Edna Lister, June 28, 1970.

Light is the three Emanations forming the gestating place for all universes, for growth and expansion of ideas and principles. It is the microcosm as three Emanations of Light, the Father, Love, the Mother and the Logos, the Son of Being, becoming the four of Creation: Color, tone, number, and (name) form. Light is becoming earth, air, fire, and water.—Edna Lister, September 17, 1970.

Light is divine Mind in action as faith.—Edna Lister, September 17, 1970.

Light is all that is; the complete basic life sparks of the universe that God and His Creation use as creative substance. Spirit is that portion of substance which comes through; it really is Light, but is balanced, the divine spark.—Edna Lister, September 24, 1970.

If you are one with God, the Light of your aura transforms everything in form — cars, buses, offices and homes — into oneness with God.—Edna Lister, When Is Healing Lawful? November 22, 1970.

Treatments for Light

Speak the Word, "Every enemy of Light is divinely restrained."—Edna Lister, January 12, 1956.

The law to apply where Light is needed is to always, always prepare the way of the Lord by declaring the object of prayer declarations "good and very good!" After that, you may use the proper phrases to express need, such as, "Let there be Light," or "Oh, God, according to Thy loving kindness, let Thy Light go forth."—Edna Lister, January 28, 1960.

"Let every negative be caught instantly and made into Light. Let Your Light so shine through me, that all whom I contact are made Light!"—Edna Lister, January 6, 1962.

Three disciples witnessed Jesus’ Transfiguration on the mount, when his robes became glistening with Light shining from within and his face shone as the sun. The Light expressing as Love and Wisdom that formed the glowing brilliance. When you are tempted to criticize, see that vision of the Light of Jesus in the eye of the one you would criticize. It will pay dividends.—Edna Lister, What Is Illumination? May 13, 1962.

Wherever you go, you are a challenge to darkness. Say, "In the name of Jesus the Christ, show your colors. Let there be Light."—Edna Lister, Your Sacred Light, November 10, 1963.

“’This is good,’ triggers the Light, sending it directly to any evil felt.”

The instant you feel a premonition that something evil is coming, move up in consciousness. To declare, "This is good," triggers the Light, sending it directly to any darkness or evil felt. This is your protection equipment.—Edna Lister, Love, Your Radar, November 17, 1963.

No law can be set aside. We put people on a cloud and call down fire and Light upon them until they learn.—Edna Lister, Healing Through Forgiveness, November 24, 1963.

Shekinah Splendor

This Edna Lister sermon transcript is dated December 15, 1963, Cleveland, Ohio. Scribes: Ruth Johnson, Irene White and Virginia Whitehead. Scriptures: 2 Corinthians 3:1-18, Colossians 1:27.

"We all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord."—2 Corinthians 3:18.

"God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory."—Colossians 1:27.

Shekinah is a Hebrew word used often in place of God, or Lord. It is from the noun, shekan, meaning "to live or to dwell." Shekinah releases glory and Light in soft, beneficent rays, yet can release Power like the disastrous result to the withered fig tree (Matthew 21:19), but always for a good reason.

Shekinah means God as a presence, an earthly presence of God walking the earth. God still walks the earth. You cannot say that God is everywhere evenly present and available and say that He cannot take on all form.

Shekinah represents the radiance of the glory of God manifested as a soft Light, although it has degrees of radiance from earth to the Source, where it can be blinding. You can see it sometimes through a storm cloud as blinding light. It was the Light that shown over the Hebrew Tabernacle, the Light of the Ark of the Covenant, the shining cloud over Mt. Sinai and the fire in the burning bush. When the words "dwelling" or "shining" are used in the Bible, you may substitute the word Shekinah.

Shekinah glory washes away sin. If you raise your hands and ask, with all your heart, to be possessed of Light, it washes away the taints. You must have faith and true believing for this to happen. The Light of Shekinah is the ultimate in the substance of the Living God, the Light condensed to form our physical bodies. This is why God designed them to be the temples for our souls. Nothing negative can exist when that Light is allowed to have free access to every part of your body. If you seem to hold out in some place or another, your weakness shows there. With many people, it is their eyes.

Light in Other Sacred Writings

Wisdom is more moving than any motion: she passes and goes through all things by reason of her pureness, for she is the breath of the power of God, and a pure influence flowing from the glory of the Almighty: therefore no defiled thing can fall into her. She is the brightness of the everlasting light, the unspotted mirror of the power of God, and the image of His goodness. Being but One, she can do all things: and remaining in herself, she makes all things new: and in all ages entering into holy souls, she makes them friends of God, and prophets.—Wisdom of Solomon 7:24-27.

Wisdom is more beautiful than the sun, and above all the order of stars: being compared with the light, she is found before it.—Wisdom of Solomon 7:29.

Turn again to the most High, and turn away from iniquity: for he will lead thee out of darkness into the light of health.—Wisdom of Ben Sirach 17:26.

Wisdom makes the doctrine of knowledge appear as the light.—Wisdom of Ben Sirach 24:27.

The love of the Lord passes all things for illumination.—Wisdom of Ben Sirach 25:11.

They who fear the Lord shall find judgment, and shall kindle justice as a light.—Wisdom of Ben Sirach 32:16.

Edna Lister

Etymology of light: Old English lēoht, līht (n. and adj.), līhtan (verb), of Germanic origin; related to Dutch licht and German licht, from Greek leukos ‘bright, shining, white’; Latin lucere ‘to shine,’ lux ‘light,’ lucidus ‘clear.’

Light is the Godhead, the universal absolute principle, the source of the Emanations.

Light is an abstract principle.

Light
Hail holy light, offspring of Heav’n first-born,
Or of th’ Eternal Coeternal beam
May I express thee unblam’d since God is light,
And never but in unapproached light
Dwelt from Eternitie, dwelt then in thee,
Bright effluence of bright essence increate.
Or hear’st thou rather pure Ethereal stream,
Whose Fountain who shall tell? before the Sun,
Before the Heavens thou wert, and at the voice
Of God, as with a Mantle didst invest
The rising world of waters dark and deep,
Won from the void and formless infinite.
. . .
So much the rather thou Celestial light
Shine inward, and the mind through all her powers
Irradiate, there plant eyes, all mist from thence
Purge and disperse, that I may see and tell
Of things invisible to mortal sight.
—John Milton, Paradise Lost

The Light and Glory of the Word
The Spirit breathes upon the Word,
And brings the truth to sight;
Precepts and promises afford
A sanctifying light.

A glory gilds the sacred page,
Majestic like the sun;
It gives a light to every age,
It gives, but borrows none.

The hand that gave it still supplies
The gracious light and heat;
His truths upon the nations rise,
They rise, but never set.

Let everlasting thanks be thine,
For such a bright display,
As makes a world of darkness shine
With beams of heavenly day.

My soul rejoices to pursue
The steps of Him I love,
Till glory break upon my view
In brighter worlds above.
—William Cowper, Olney Hymn, XXX

Light Shining Out of Darkness
God moves in a mysterious way
His wonders to perform;
He plants His footsteps in the sea,
And rides upon the storm.

Deep in unfathomable mines
Of never-failing skill,
He treasures up His bright designs,
And works His sovereign will.

Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take,
The clouds ye so much dread
Are big with mercy, and shall break
In blessings on your head.

Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
But trust Him for His grace;
Behind a frowning providence
He hides a smiling face.

His purposes will ripen fast,
Unfolding every hour;
The bud may have a bitter taste,
But sweet will be the flower.

Blind unbelief is sure to err,
And scan His work in vain:
God is His own interpreter,
And he will make it plain.
—William Cowper, Olney Hymn XXXV
