Peace

Peace is a state of quiet or tranquillity; freedom from disturbance or agitation; applicable to society, to individuals, or to the temper of the mind; freedom from agitation or disturbance by the passions, as from fear, terror, anger, anxiety or the like; quietness of mind; tranquillity; calmness; quiet of conscience; heavenly rest; the happiness of heaven; harmony; concord; a state of reconciliation between parties at variance; public tranquillity; that quiet, order and security which is guaranteed by the laws.Webster’s American Dictionary

“Peace runs like a river from the heart of God.”—Edna Lister

Peace is the child of Poise and Power. Peace is an absolute and abstract principle: God is peace. Peace is a law of being, a soul virtue and a spiritual faculty. Being peaceable (peace able) is how to become peaceful (peace full).

Edna Lister on Peace

You must be open-minded to be a peacemaker.—Edna Lister, Beatitudes, January 29, 1933.

Love brings peace and peace is the keynote of the universe.—Edna Lister, Beatitudes, January 29, 1933.

You shall find all strength through Power, praise, poise and peace.—Edna Lister, Baptism and its Authorization, October 14, 1934.

If you choose to live by the world’s idea of peace, it will devour you. The world is always trying to devour people and things until everyone is consumed. Spirit lives by opposing all darkness; it may look like division and strife, but only to bring peace.—Edna Lister, Learning to Live at Peace, November 11, 1934.

A peacemaker is a peace creator, who can lift anything that comes, add it to the heart of God and create peace, regardless of the original intention. A peacemaker is a pace setter for the world.—Edna Lister, Beatitudes, January 19, 1935.

You cannot work, think or act in confusion; you must have peace and harmony, but create your own confusion and lack of peace. As the Master did, you can have peace in the midst of strife, confusion or noise. Yet you must work for it, and desire it, above everything else. If you want self justification to be heard of men, you cannot have peace, for your vibration then only adds to the confusion.—Edna Lister, Gentle Firmness, January 9, 1938.

Let tranquility and peace be your watch words.—Edna Lister, January 8, 1939.

Peace in your heart shall be glory to your soul and bring creations to astound the world. Peace makes you content to do a daily stint, hour by hour, glorifying God. Peace is a holy and a most assuring Comforter to all. Peace is your sword and staff, your rod of Power and moves in all you do.—Edna Lister, January 22, 1939.

Love creates peace above all misunderstanding, and above all understanding it creates the peace of God.—Edna Lister, February 3, 1939.

To those who deal in Light forever, only Light may manifest. Peace shall follow their spoken Word and their presence shall send forth health and strength to those who are in need.—Edna Lister, September 13, 1939.

Give of peace for all earth’s darkness. Peace is your golden protection, an armor of pure Light, the life of God, the Source, peace in speech, seeing only peace, hearing only words of peace, entertaining only thoughts of peace.—Edna Lister, September 15, 1939.

Speak every word in peace, joy and in the sure knowledge that God’s laws are inevitable in their ability to "bring to pass."—Edna Lister, November 3, 1939.

Peace runs like a river from the heart of God. Let this peace flow over you, bathe you in Light, fill you and cause all unrest within to be made peace.—Edna Lister, November 24, 1939.

Peace of mind is the Mind that was in Christ Jesus. Peace and Light come from above. You may not have peace unless you dwell in Light.—Edna Lister, December 7, 1939.

Peace is your foundation and a guide. Peace is a shield from all darkness. Peace is a high fortress and a high dwelling. Peace enters the temple with you and returns home again with you.—Edna Lister, April 12, 1940.

“Peace of mind is the Mind that was in Christ Jesus.”

Peace flows like a river, gathers beauty and love, and forever embodies all delight. Peace always overcomes the wrath of darkness. Peace enfolds hate like the downy blanket a mother uses to enfold the tiny newborn soul. Peace hovers as a bird’s wings hover o’er tiny bursting eggs now hatching. Peace is open to receive its own. Peace is ever ready to lift. Peace tends to its own furrow. Peace lays hold on a task unto the finish. Peace consumes the fever of restlessness. Peace flows like a river of Light throughout the world and earth is now heaven-born. He who has ears to hear, let him hear. He who has eyes to see, let him see. Peace is plentiful. Use it. Peace is all powerful. Let it use you to all powerful overcoming.– Edna Lister, May 25, 1940.

Live high, agreeing with the Light in poise, then you will express the necessary patience in peace.—Edna Lister, August 9, 1940.

Peace shall be your great covering of life and Light, and this activity of Spirit shall fill you to overflowing.—Edna Lister, November 22, 1940.

Peace is an anchor in Light, since peace comes only of the Light. Therefore, if you are in the Light, you shall be a full expression of peace above the world’s understanding. Peace and Light come from above, and life receives its growth of both. You are not truly alive unless you are in peace, and you may not have peace unless you dwell in Light.—Edna Lister, February 4, 1941.

Peace and Patience are the offspring of Poise and Power.—Edna Lister, February 13, 1941.

Allow no man or thing to disturb your balance in joy and peace.—Edna Lister, May 6, 1941.

You cannot be gracious save through love, peace and joy.—Edna Lister, July 3, 1941.

You will not always find the way easy as you carry the Master’s cross of love of service, but peace will fill your heart.—Edna Lister, February 6, 1942.

Without patience, you cannot know peace.—Edna Lister, The Two-Edged Sword, April 19, 1942.

Peace is your bedfellow and companion as you walk in the ways of righteousness and perfection.—Edna Lister, July 18, 1942.

The Holy Ghost itself is rest or peace, tranquility, a cessation of creation.—Edna Lister, April 22, 1943.

When you move up in consciousness, into the high place, the tower room, the sanctuary, and live as poise, peace will express itself as you on the outer.—Edna Lister, June 5, 1944.

The path straightens out when you walk in peace and in joy.—Edna Lister, December 19, 1944.

Peace may be a River of Life to you, forever tranquilly flowing through as a Power that holds you in a state of consciousness high enough to make you shine to bless a world in travail and darkness.—Edna Lister, July 10, 1945.

As you ascend, peace becomes a great river ever flowing through you to bless, harmonize and to give you life more abundant.—Edna Lister, April 17, 1947.

Peace is the principle of harmony contained in mother love.—Edna Lister, What I Do Have, I Give, October 1, 1950.

Be at peace, which is the divine activity of radiance. Peace is the vibration immediately under joy, which is immediately under the Light that is God in action.—Edna Lister, June 25, 1951.

If we spoke of nothing but good and peace for seven days, we would have world peace, but each would have to mean it.—Edna Lister, The Flaming Sword, July 29, 1951.

You will not need peace or patience if you stand in poise, for you will then be law.—Edna Lister, Gifts and Giving, June 14, 1953.

As you lift desire into immovable poise, Power descends to mate with poise. Peace and patience are the offspring of poise and Power, and they spread flowers before you.—Edna Lister, July 12, 1954.

The subconscious mind makes you work to learn peace and patience.—Edna Lister, July 12, 1954.

Nothing about nonresistance is weak or negative, though it is nonaggressive as earth knows aggression. It is a law of perfect peace, the only real peace, yet it is all-powerful.—Edna Lister, Eternal Youth, 1956.

You move up in consciousness to poise and power to reach peace and patience.—Edna Lister, Revelation, Four Horsemen and Six Seals, April 29, 1958.

The angel of peace presides everywhere peace is spoken.—Edna Lister, May 24, 1959.

Peace of mind is not a main issue; peace and patience are by-products. When you stand poised under Power, you beget children named Peace and Patience.—Edna Lister, I Am the Way, October 4, 1959.

Accept in joy, and decide to make your life an adventure. It’s the only way you can endure in peace.—Edna Lister, Your Full Birthright, December 6, 1959.

Peace is the essence of inner quiet and confidence, not stagnation.—Edna Lister, Realization Through Praise, June 26, 1960.

“The angel of peace presides everywhere peace is spoken.”

"The peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."—Philippians 4:7. Peace is above understanding, which is the Light descending. When you work for peace from the outside, you get more conflict to conquer, but when you ascend to peace, it descends upon you. You cannot get powerful strength from meditating on peace.—Edna Lister, Realization Through Praise, June 26, 1960.

You may enter the golden silence seeking peace and get it, but that kind of peace is a preparation for sleep or death. When you seek peace for self, it is inactive. Your vibration dies as you meditate on words because you block the mainstream of the River of Life.—Edna Lister, When Prayer Is at Work, June 4, 1961.

Peace comes from unifying your emotional desires with perfect thinking.—Edna Lister, This I Know, December 3, 1961.

You are in the most divinely unpeaceful place God can put you, since that’s the only way He can get you to go to heaven.—Edna Lister, Heaven, a Place to Fill, April 10, 1962.

Someone said that one woman in prayer was helpful, one hundred women in prayer are powerful, one thousand women could sway the world, while one million women praying could bring peace tomorrow.—Edna Lister, May 20, 1962.

We all know that the whole world is in a state of confusion. Everyone wants peace, the right to live in freedom, to work, to earn, to grow. A conflict arises from what peace means to nations and individuals. The kind of peace that we must have for all people and nations is blocked by inner conflicts within individuals, who lack identity with the Source of All.—Edna Lister, You Are Immortal Now, September 5, 1965.

Part of wearing the "whole armor of God" is having your "feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace" (Ephesians 6:15). Peace is a preparation, a combination. You cannot have peace without love, joy, and faith and loyalty in and to God.—Edna Lister, How Great Is Your Faith? November 13, 1966.

"The peace of God, which passes all understanding,"—Philippians 4:7 results from standing and enduring in joy.—Edna Lister, June 5, 1967.

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.—Matthew 5:9.

When ye come into an house, salute it. And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.—Matthew 10:12-13.

Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.—Matthew 10:34. [The Christos vibration does not bring peace on earth, but a sword to separate truth from illusion.]

And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house. And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again.—Luke 10:5-6.

Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division.—Luke 12:51.

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.—John 14:27.

Being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.—Romans 5:1.

For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.—Romans 8:6-7.

For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men. Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.—Romans 14:17-19.

Mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.—Romans 16:17-18.

If the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace.—1 Corinthians 7:15.

God is not the author of confusion, but of peace.—1 Corinthians 14:33.

Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.—2 Corinthians 13:11.

I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling—Ephesians 4:1-4.

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.—Philippians 4:6-7.

Let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.—Colossians 3:14.

Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, in meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; and that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.—2 Timothy 2:22-26.

Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; and make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed. Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord—Hebrews 12:11-14.

But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.—James 3:14-18.
