Power

Power is the ability to act or produce an effect; the capacity for being acted upon or undergoing an effect; the possession of control, authority, or influence over others; a source or means of supplying energy, especially electricity. The Oxford English Dictionary

The world’s synonyms for power are: authority, jurisdiction, control, command, sway, and dominion, all terms that mean the right to govern, to rule or to determine. Power implies possession of the ability to wield force, authority, or influence. Authority implies the power for a specific purpose within specified limits. Jurisdiction applies to official power exercised within prescribed limits. Control stresses the power to direct and restrain. Command implies the power to make arbitrary decisions and compel obedience. Sway suggests the extent of exercised power or influence. Dominion stresses sovereign power or supreme authority.—Merriam-Webster Dictionary

“The universe obeys the Power of God’s Word.”—Edna Lister

Divine Power is the source of all energy, which is always subsidiary and relative to its source. Supernal Power exerted is transduced to and becomes energy. The terms power, force, energy, strength, and might all mean the ability to exert effort. Power may imply latent or exerted physical, mental, or spiritual ability to act or be acted upon. Force implies the actual effective exercise of power. Energy applies to power expended or capable of being transformed into work. Strength applies to the quality or property of a person or thing that makes possible the exertion of force or the withstanding of strain, pressure, or attack. Might implies great or overwhelming power or strength.

The principle of Power is the action of the third Emanation, the Logos, The Word, the Son of God, also called Selflessness and Joy. The Logos, spoken, releases the Power as kinetic energy that animates all forms planned by Mind and filled with Substance. The Logos is absolute selfless joy expressing as omnipotence, potential Power actively exerted, and kinetic energy. Paul described Christed omnipotence when he said, I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.—Philippians 4:13.

Edna Lister on Power

You cannot escape the Power of God’s Love. It is always seeking a channel.—Edna Lister, January 16, 1933.

The higher you go in ascension, the more the Power moving though you is mistaken for ordinary pridefulness.—Edna Lister, The Inner Mysteries, February 13, 1935.

Surround yourself with the Light, Power and life of God. Draw upon God’s limitless Power, not some second hand power that has dripped through another, or you will dwell in weakness rather than in God’s strength. Plug into the socket and hold your contact. Keep your spiritual spark plugs clean and go to your Source of Light, which is your Father above. Be a giver of Light, of Power to earth from heaven, not a sponge sopping up a neighbor’s overflow.—Edna Lister, January 13, 1939.

"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." —Isaiah 26:3. God releases ten thousandfold of the full Power of Light to all those whose minds are stayed on Him.—Edna Lister, January 12, 1942.

A transformer sets Power to the voltage the receiver(s) can tolerate. God will automatically tune you, as a perfected transformer of Power, to release the right amount of Power. The Power itself does the work. God releases just the right amount through you under all conditions.—Edna Lister, August 18, 1945.

Never allow anything to move you from your point of Power’s release, even for five minutes.—Edna Lister, June 3, 1947.

Power must be released from on high. No Power shall be released save through hearts of great virtue.—Edna Lister, August 17, 1947.

As Power comes through, it dips into the hearts and minds of men and explodes the veils of secrecy hiding their chicanery.—Edna Lister, August 21, 1947.

If you are not up in consciousness, you live below your hair roots and therefore cannot release the Power because you are too weak.—Edna Lister, December 6, 1947.

You are endowed with Power from on high. Yet you may not use it, for your relationship with Power is as its instrument of release into the world. To use Power is really to misuse it; you corrupt it and the act taints you.—Edna Lister, July 4, 1948.

The Power to speak the Word is the heritage of all Christed Ones.—Edna Lister, Power, Your Divine Inheritance, November 27, 1949.

Nothing can resist the Power you selflessly release.—Edna Lister, April 9, 1962.

As you move closer to the Source of Power, you become more powerful.—Edna Lister, February 5, 1957.

Power comes from every direction. Just open the floodgate when you need revitalizing Power, and you cannot stop the inflow.—Edna Lister, March 7, 1957.

The only way God can release Power to you is to release it through you.—Edna Lister, April 4, 1957.

Only spiritual hearts can withstand the release of Power from the high Source.—Edna Lister, August 4, 1957.

The brain process called "learning" consists of repeatedly setting up switch patterns to train groups of nerves and cells to function together, like circuits. These circuits of mind improve vastly with use and exercise. Brain power is one ability that obeys the law of "the more you use it, the more you have," which Jesus explained in "For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath."—Matthew 25:29. If you desire to and do use your brain cells, you will have more.—Edna Lister, Conquering Space, October 15, 1957.

You can always increase your fervor and double the Power you are capacitated to release.—Edna Lister, December 19, 1957.

Power is the divine activity that energizes your prayer mold to express as outer manifestation as form.—Edna Lister, Promises Fulfilled, May 11, 1958.

The one who becomes a transforming station of Power becomes Power.—Edna Lister, October 28, 1958.

As you ascend, Power can permeate you to heal in all ways. When you speak the Word for healing, you become an open instrument to be possessed by all Power. God’s Power is greater than atomic energy. Your body becomes an extension of Power from the Source, the Power that heals. You can recreate any miscreation in the image and likeness of God, deathless, ageless and abiding. It is right there waiting, yours to contact. Go straight to the Source and take it. Do not take just a dribble, sit on the sidelines, or lie down for a nap. Go out and do. —Edna Lister, Realization, May 3, 1959.

Power is released under the expansion principle.—Edna Lister, Is Praise Necessary? July 5, 1960.

Each day is the greatest day you have ever lived in release of Power for yourself and for everyone near you.—Edna Lister, January 12, 1961.

Cosmic Power is universal Power. There is only the One Power, which is stepped down from its absolute potential state to become all subsequent forms of kinetic energy, in atoms and molecules. Power includes lightning, electricity, jet fuel and all other forms of energy.—Edna Lister, Your Contact With Cosmic Power, October 8, 1961.

Any misuse of Power is adultery.—Edna Lister, The Seven-Branched Candle Stand, October 17, 1961.

God releases great Power where there is travail.—Edna Lister, December 11, 1961.

Being filled with self leaves no room for Power to flourish.—Edna Lister, March 24, 1965.

New Testament on Power

And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee. And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth. And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts? For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk? But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house. And he arose, and departed to his house. But when the multitudes saw it, they marveled, and glorified God, which had given such power unto men.—Matthew 9:2-7.

And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.—Luke 10:17-20.

I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.—Luke 12:4-5.

Behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.—Luke 24:49.

Your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.—1 Corinthians 2:5.

God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.—2 Timothy 1:7.

For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.—Hebrews 4:12.

I can do all things through Christ, which strengtheneth me.—Philippians 4:13.

Him that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. And I will give him the morning star.—Revelation 2:26-28.

Froward thoughts separate from God: and His power, when it is tried, reproves the unwise.—Wisdom of Solomon 1:3.

Laws for the rulers of nations: Give ear, you who rule the people, and glory in the multitude of nations, for power is given you of the Lord, and sovereignty from the Highest, who shall try your works, and search out your counsels. Because, being ministers of His kingdom, you have not judged aright, kept the law, or walked after the counsel of God, He shall come upon you horribly and speedily: for a sharp judgment shall be to those in high places. Mercy will soon pardon the meanest, but mighty men shall be mightily tormented. He who is Lord over all shall fear no man’s person, nor stand in awe of any man’s greatness: for He has made the small and great, and cares for all alike.—Wisdom of Solomon 6:2-7.

Wisdom, which is the worker of all things, is an understanding spirit holy, One only, manifold, subtle, lively, clear, undefiled, plain, not subject to hurt, loving the thing that is good quick, which cannot be letted, ready to do good, kind to man, steadfast, sure, free from care, having all power, overseeing all things, and going through all understanding, pure, and most subtle, spirits.—Wisdom of Solomon 7:22-23.

Wisdom is more moving than any motion: she passes and goes through all things by reason of her pureness, for she is the breath of the power of God, and a pure influence flowing from the glory of the Almighty: therefore no defiled thing can fall into her. She is the brightness of the everlasting light, the unspotted mirror of the power of God, and the image of His goodness. Being but One, she can do all things: and remaining in herself, she makes all things new: and in all ages entering into holy souls, she makes them friends of God, and prophets.—Wisdom of Solomon 7:24-27.

The Lord only is righteous, and there is none other but he, who governs the world with the palm of his hand, and all things obey his will: for he is the King of all, by his power dividing holy things among them from profane.—Wisdom of Ben Sirach 18:2-3.

When Light had spoken through the Word’s mouth, as well as his voice, which gave birth to life, he gave them thought and understanding, and mercy and salvation, and the powerful spirit from the infiniteness and the sweetness of the Father.—The Gospel of Truth, Codex I, 3 and XII, 2.

The Word destroyed punishments and tortures with power and confounded them with knowledge. He became a way for those who were gone astray, and knowledge for those who were ignorant, a discovery for those who were searching, and a support for those who were wavering, immaculateness for those who were defiled.—The Gospel of Truth, Codex I, 3 and XII, 2.

The Father is unnameable, indescribable, until the time when he who is perfect [Christ] spoke of Him alone; and it is he who has the power to speak His name, and to see it.—The Gospel of Truth, Codex I, 3 and XII, 2:63.

Let him who possesses power renounce it.—Gospel of Thomas, Codex II, 2.

There is a rebirth and an image of rebirth. It is certainly necessary to be born again through the image of Resurrection. The image must rise again through the image. The bridal chamber and the image must enter through the image into the truth: this is the restoration. This power the apostles called "the right and the left." For this person is no longer a Christian but a Christ.—Gospel of Philip, Codex II, 3.

He who has received the ability to create is a creature. He who has received the ability to beget is an offspring. He who creates cannot beget. He who begets also has power to create.—Gospel of Philip, Codex II, 3.

Let us dig down after the root of evil which is within, and pluck it from our heart from the root. It will be plucked out if we recognize it, but if we are ignorant of it, it takes root in us and produces its fruit in our heart. It masters us. We are its slaves. It takes us captive, to make us do what we do not want; and what we do want, we do not do. It is powerful because we have not recognized it. While it exists, it is active.—Gospel of Philip, Codex II, 3.

There is glory which surpasses glory. There is power which surpasses power. Therefore, the perfect things have opened to us, together with the hidden things of truth. The holies of the holies were revealed, and the bridal chamber invited us in.—Gospel of Philip, Codex II, 3.
