Fear, Anxiety

  Fear is a painful emotion excited by an expectation of evil, or the apprehension of impending danger. The force of this emotion, beginning with the most moderate degree, is fear, dread, terror, fright. Fear is accompanied with a desire to avoid or ward off the expected evil. Fear is an uneasiness of mind, upon the thought of future evil likely to befall us. Fear is anxiety; solicitude. In good men, the fear of God is a holy awe or reverence of God and his laws, which springs from a just view and real love of the divine character, inclining them to aim at perfect obedience.Webster’s American Dictionary

  Anxiety is concern or solicitude respecting some event, future or uncertain, which disturbs the mind, and keeps it in a state of painful uneasiness. Anxiety expresses more than uneasiness or disturbance, and even more than trouble or solicitude. It usually springs from fear or serious apprehension of evil, and involves a suspense respecting an event, and often, a perplexity of mind, to know how to shape our conduct.Webster’s American Dictionary

  Fear taints your faculties of faith and trust. It arises from confusion and uncertainty. When you feel fear, you are afraid. To sacrifice the fear in prayer is your best solution.

When a thought of fear, lack or doubt crosses your mind, make your statements with more awareness of God’s Power, put more emphasis into them. To rid the mind of fear, say, I, (Name) am now filled with the confidence of God. I am now overflowing with the trust of God. You can’t have one thing the matter with you that you do not entertain. You can fuss around and produce all sorts of ideas that aren’t true, but they cannot last. This is a hangover of an old fear. How long before you are completely rid of it depends on you yourself. You can keep on stuffing more fear under the surface to get rid of later, but someday you’ll decide to have no more of it! You’ll say, “Get out!” whenever some fear-suggestion surfaces, and finally it won’t bother you any more. You spend hours entertaining these fear ideas! Any visitor you entertain as lavishly as you do these notions of fear will always come back for more. You are the conqueror and you must assert yourself—the real you that has never been touched by any of these fears. You can fuss and stew and spend hours and days in worry, but that’s all that can come of it. The only way to get out of it is to raise your hand high and keep reaching up and saying that you are drawn into the heart of God, and nothing can drag you down or out. And then keep on saying it until it becomes a reality in your life. Each time you climb out, you will climb higher—someday into the sunlight forever. Out in the world I find fear, doubt, delay, one waiting upon another, one falling down, and all the “waiters” falling flat on that weak one. The delay is heart-breaking to many, yes, all. They lose houses, chances, positions, etc., because of delay and are full of grief. We know it is our own doubt and fear we may be feeling, not what God wants for us!
  Now, as Sons and Daughters of God, we stand in the Light. We wait upon the Lord, and we have such glorious compensations. “Thy Joy, oh God, is my mainstay, my comfort and my delight.” In this we have faith and our Father never fails us or falls upon us. He holds us in his arms and we have peace. We know how to pray. We know how to praise. We know how to walk and love and stand. We may wait at times, but we know the time of fulfillment does come.
  Everyone is waiting on someone else for something. Really the queerest situation in the world, but we, who are waiting upon God, are the only sure ones in the world. Others are filled with fears and doubts, live under delay in which there are no joys and no compensations at all. The more I see, the better I feel about us (United States). We are protected in ways we do not even now realize. And while we “wait upon the Lord,” we have all these unspeakable Joys to fill our minds and our hearts. Vast cycles have moved the currents of time’s river throughout the history of man, currents to test, to try, to tempt for weakness, dry rot, doubt, fear, for pride and arrogance of place, position, for knowledge of law, for criticism and demands to do with another, for condemning, for falsely judging—and no man may judge another, since no man may know wherein another’s lesson lies. Cross-currents disturb the flow to unsettle old opinions old prejudices, to stir up the sediment of darkness underneath a smooth surface. Snags arise to rend the current and obstruct the way, to challenge and change all darkness to all Light. Pray for the guidance to stay or to change your course. It shall be there in the silence.
  Work with these cycles and they will work for you. Work against them and they lash you and may tear apart your efforts to build, for their great work must go on despite your lesser plans. Fight them and they fight you by moving in good’s direction of Light, while you drift toward a lesser place and honor. Move with the currents that seek to change your will and desire to a greater good. They bear you up hold you safe as they work, carry all Power to aid you, grant all good desires, and give you safe rest. My sister, Blanche, fell off her kitchen stool yesterday a.m. Fractured a vertebra—in a cast, weights on both legs. In doing so, she was healed of these: Numbness in right hand and arm; two fused vertebrae, cracked open; a ligament with adhesion to spine, torn loose, freeing her stomach, heart, lung nerves. Ligament at left hip with adhesion torn loose, freeing her foot (she’s had trouble with it for 10 years). So, she has gained! Also, will be free of ‘physical body fear’ forever. She’s helpless in hospital – but the worst has happened! She is healed all over. Pray with me. She’s always had a fear of losing her body with some ugly thing! Decree your desires, then stand on and by your own words! You say you do not doubt or waver, but you do both! Your path is narrow, sometimes with room for only one foot at a time. This is when doubts, fears or self-pity assails the conscious mind, when all hidden detriments will arise from the deeps of the subconscious. Lift them! You will learn about not missing a detail, step by step. Every hour is an hour to release Power over something or someone, an hour to discipline self for laxness. Make every hour your highest hour, a step up.   You shall go out into the world and into great criticism. Just get to the point where you welcome criticism, for you need it! Make it work for you. Clean house on it and know that it is for your good. Get busy then and apply what you have learned. Let no one and nothing drag you down! You are never alone. Look up to receive. Surrender. Accept what comes. Be up, so that when a challenge comes you will have the right perspective. You may have fears but you can lift them, rise above them and learn from them. To a creative type who feared her lack of financial resources: Go to the Source for all your needs. When you learn to do this—expecting nothing from the world when you do—all you need shall come to you. You cannot stop the flow of Power through you nor the joy in your heart that is necessary to create! When you fear paying $5 or $50, you stop the flow of $500,000 coming in! In one turnaround, you could repay all that anyone has ever spent for you. The Elect must work this way. We cannot work for an income. On the outer, a soul may desire to possess things or people, either in this or past lives. This shall be a constructive fear to heal. Remember this, and be unafraid, for your prayers shall deliver the whole of earth. Many fears that people believe are theirs personally actually arise from a world-mind construct such as for some forms of cancer—perhaps needing an operation to remove a growth or a tumor. The soul’s fear both attracts a tentacle from the world mind construct, the thought form, and feeds the cancer thought form, strengthening it. A little poison will ruin a huge reservoir of water. Just so, negative words about you eyes adulterate the whole stream of life flowing through you. As to wealth, you are perfect. The River of Life flows in a continuous manner without doubt, without fear that you shall have wealth. No outside opinions ever cause you to change your wealth idea. With only a few cents in your pocket, you are still wealthy, finding it easy to ignore the condition. Yet as to your eyes, you declare weakness because of outer conditions. The same law applies to both issues and to 10,000 other matters. Small conditions causing negative statements will color and weaken your every line up to God and will be anchors holding you to the past and its heart-breaking delay.
  No task is too hard, too long, too great or too small for you to treat so Light will heal it. No matter what, you must declare this! God can bring a miracle to pass upon your declaration of His Glory. Do you believe God wants you to go blind? I believe you can see that this is a final exam. Now if you will honestly, very honestly, in loyalty to God, with honor to God, work this out now, your hourly declarations that your eyes are the eyes of God’s Glory, that your old eyes being rebuilt, then this one thing can begin to weave all the the strands into a perfect healing.–Edna Lister, June 23, 1953

New growth is now possible for the strongest souls among the Elect: Every wrong idea they (you) have have had—such as fear about slipping if they assume too much responsibility—is coming to the surface to be absorbed between Easter and Ascension Day. You will look back and see yourself easily handling a situation. After that you will be consciously aware of living through the difference between a process and an action. When in doubt of dizzying fear, stand before the altar until the vibration rights itself. God holds before you goals that you think you cannot reach but when you do, He holds forth even higher goals. {This journal entry was written by a woman whose family had been wealthy before the Stock Market Crash of 1929 and the Depression that followed. Bear in mind that her entire way of life had been destroyed.} An image seen in a dream, which then filled my consciousness: A black marble cube was following me, not attached to me but in the offing. It appeared nebulous at times, then would sink and follow me as weight. Edna Miriam said the cube is a symbolic representation of crystallized fear that had to be shattered and absorbed before anything that had been mine could return to me. The basis of such blackness is fear and I had a fear of poverty with all its attendant fears. She knew it had to be absorbed and that when it was gone, all that had once been mine would be mine again. She sees the cube as if it were a pile of rubble that the Master’s Legions will remove.–Edna Lister, October 18, 1956

Fear of giving up of one’s earthly authority causes laggards among the Elect. This is a hangover memory of regal authority you held in the high place you left to come to earth. Treatments for Fear

When a thought of fear, lack or doubt crosses your mind, make your statements with more awareness of God’s Power, put more emphasis into them. To rid the mind of fear, say, I, (Name) am now filled with the confidence of God. I am now overflowing with the trust of God. I am now expressing perfect wisdom, confidence, assurance, and perfect faith.–Edna Lister, January 13, 1933


All negative emotions are based in some form of fear. To cast out an emotional complex or pattern, bring your greatest fear to the surface and skim off the metaphorical froth—all reactions of stress and limitation that emotion excites within you—the impatience, upset, and irritability. A conscious method of doing this is to write your limitations, in rank order from the worst down. Use a separate sheet for each until you can think of no more. Number the sheets to keep them in order. On the first sheet, write all your reactions, everything you can think of concerning that limitation, until you finish them all. Doing this, three days apart for each limitation, should take about three weeks.
  Now read each sheet again, paying careful attention to the words you have used to describe your strongest reactions to fear, and write those that excite the strongest emotional reaction at the bottom of the sheet; you will probably find three to six such words. Do this for all your pages. When you are finished, you will notice that you have repeatedly used five or so words to describe your strong reaction. Cast these burdens of fear on the Master to lift them. Put each of the key words on a new sheet and keep digging. Do this frequently, as often as you react according to your old pattern, until you have eradicated your reaction pattern to the fear.
  >Another method involves the subconscious mind: Sit in a relaxed way and wait until your mind settles into relaxation with the physical body. Write on paper the first idea that comes to mind, using a new sheet for each new word. Return to the first idea and write everything it makes you think of in that regard. For example, if some form of resentment shows up on each sheet, use another sheet to write about every person and experience in your life that has caused you feel resentment, and so on. Eventually, you will see how unimportant these people and experiences are in your life today—all that remains is the effect they had on you. Finally, you will understand that you can eliminate the effect they had on you by giving it to God as often as you feel them. Then you will be free from them.–Edna Lister, January 16, 1933

Fear is a soul taint, moral defect, negative influence, and spiritual contamination.
