Edna Lister's Sermons on Asking, Seeking and Knocking

Asking, seeking and knocking are laws of doing, laws of right action, three legal pursuits for the ascending soul. Always ask when you are unsure or confused "and it shall be given." Always seek first the kingdom of God, and always knock at Heaven's Gates, or on the outer doors when given the "green light."

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. – Matthew 7:7-8.

Creative Imagination

This Edna Lister sermon outline is dated May 1, 1949, Tacoma, Washington; she also used it June 19, 1949, Cleveland, Ohio. Scripture: Matthew 7:7-8.

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. – Matthew 7:7-8.

Ask, seek and knock are very important words, but why do we use them with "imagination"? Imagination is soul "seeing," the kingly faculty of visualization, the faculty of visualization, of making mental pictures or images in the mind's eye.

To create is to be creative, to build, to give form to what is imagined. You use imagination to create, to build a mold and to give form to your desires.

The main idea is the proper use of imagination when asking, seeking and knocking. How are you visualizing the goal? What are you picturing? How are you approaching your asking, seeking and knocking?

You can use these verbs, ask, seek and knock, in three ways. First, the instinctive intelligence of the appetitive soul regards "ask, seek and knock" as the "gimmes" – "Gimme this" and Gimme that."

The creature says, "I will have it. I will ask it of others, and if they do not give it, I will take it from them." The appetitive soul of self seeks God just as nature, and so often ruthlessly appropriates its needs from the environment.

Intellectual reasoning asks, seeks and knocks while forever remaining buried in books, comparing philosophies, perhaps wanting "proof." The intellectual thinks about it but rarely acts.

Intuitive consciousness asks God, seeks first the kingdom, and knocks to penetrate the veil that separates the visible from the invisible realities. Such a person has that "upward look" toward God because they are always looking above the worldly appearance. They base their optimism and faith on a "knowing" assurance and confidence in God and His right answers.

If "finding" is merely the result of simply "asking, seeking and knocking," then everyone would have every desire fulfilled instantly. What you receive depends on where you seek, whom and what you ask, where you are knocking and what you do when that door opens.

Gifts and Giving 1

This Edna Lister sermon outline is dated May 24, 1953, Buffalo, New York. Scripture: Matthew 7:7-12.

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. – Matthew 7:7-8. Ask, seek and to knock are three action verbs that mean to do something. The ideas behind them are impressive. They do not imply a serene waiting, but activity. Ask what? Seek where? Knock how?

What man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? – Matthew 7:9-11.

These verses are followed with the admonition, "Whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them," which is the Golden Rule. You may permit no failure in your good response, no matter whether your job is boring, the pay is poor or others treat you meanly.

Perhaps you are on the short end, but so what. Aim at focusing your mind on giving, not on getting. Behind both the gift and giving stands the law of forgiveness. You can neither give nor receive a good gift where you hold a grudge.

Forgiveness is a state of "giving for" whatever comes your way. Jesus came to forgive sinners and you must also instead of blaming and criticizing them. Forgive your special sinners seventy times seven times a day, if needed. Your special sinners are those whom you choose to blame.

You do the forgiving until you, not they are healed. Yet you cannot forgive self until you forget self. And you cannot forget self until you get Light for self.

When you never waver, never charge a debt of blame anywhere, anytime, you will have no enemies or debts of darkness to lift. When you are always giving gifts of forgiveness and lifting, you will receive thanks and appreciation.

Put your asking, seeking and knocking into action. When you receive of God with a praise offering, you will know the love of God, joy in God, and endlessly praise God for His goodness.

To give freely, you must give forgiveness. To receive graciously leads to knowing and becoming law.

Ask greatly of self. Seek first the kingdom of heaven to achieve success. The difference between a weak man and a creator lies in his ability to translate his experiences into success. Ask all sacrifices of the self, not of others.

Seek right where you are with what you have right now. First, seek to comprehend law, then to apply it. Give of yourself in new ways. To see, to do for, and to give for is enough.

When you knock, use no force, no pounding or demanding. This describes how you must knock, in quietness and in confidence:

Thus saith the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength. – Isaiah 30:15.

Knock persistently, for just pounding on the doors of heaven is not enough. Use what you are, and what you have in an upward direction. Knocking is desire for more Light, Power, love and wealth in God.

Your triumphant soul's action must be unceasing. Ask, seek and knock constantly. Use forgiveness lavishly. Freely give enough love for everything. Stop practicing softness or weakness now.

To receive graciously, act as if you already have it now. Believe that it is now in your hands, and say, "Thank You, Father. Thank You."

Say, "Thank you" to all who come to you so you may give them the love of God for God. Share your joy in knowing God and offer Him rich praise. This makes you a victorious soul, filled with exciting glorious life.

Gifts and Giving 2

This Edna Lister sermon transcript is dated May 24, 1953, Buffalo, New York. Scribe: Edna Bender.

These verses contain three outstanding verbs: Ask, seek and knock. Scholars have interpreted them many ways, and no other words have been subject to greater misinterpretation.

Remember, every letter has twenty-two hidden meanings and interpretations under our mystical Kabbalistic work. Taken together, the various shades of meaning form the complete and true significance.

Ask, seek and knock are action verbs. A scientist will tear down his formula to cooperate with other scientists and rebuild. So should you, according to this pattern: Ask what? Seek where? Knock how? You could become unbalanced on these points. Escapists are afraid to ask, and others pound so hard on heaven's doors that they muddle the answers they seek. Finding the center point of balance can be difficult.

If ye then … know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? – Matthew 7:11. Evil is turning your back on the Light, a definite personal choice. Most people seek the world and its shadowy darkness rather than facing the Light.

What "good gift" does the Father give you? 'G' symbolizes one who has nearly completed the initiations of the Zodiacal Path, the cycle of unity, one whom initiation has almost perfectly polished for enfolding in Light. If you give your children good gifts, how much greater will our Father give you? Your children include all those souls for whom you are responsible, all those on your lines of Light.

Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. – Matthew 7:12. God gives us tremendous leeway, but cannot set aside divine law. He will say, "Child, you must pay your debts." You cannot go bankrupt with God. I once saw the Heavenly Reserve Bank, and it is so huge that God cannot possibly default.

This brings you to the point of action. You are accountable for all your negative thoughts and imaginings, which circle the world seven times, gathering their own degree and kind before returning to you.

Negative people tune in your negative thoughts and you are responsible for lifting what they add. You can tune in others' negative broadcasts, too. This reciprocal "return" principle works for good when the thoughts are good.

The whole universe operates under the law of forgiveness, which eventually cleanses every taint. We are breathing the same air today that our Cold War enemies breathed last night. To "forgive" means to "give for," and your privilege is to choose what you give. Neither God nor the heavenly Councils above take cognizance of a family's judgments of its members, for they have the soul records and know the whole truth.

You cannot know how often or how sincerely another has knelt before God, asked forgiveness and had his record wiped clean. How dare you declare someone a sinner and charge a double debt, to him and to yourself?

Jesus forgives sins, and you must too. Forgive your adversaries, stop seeing sin, noticing it, looking for it. Heal your self of blaming. Ask the Father to love the person enough through you. When you have given enough love, they stop knocking you.

Criticism is a gift when you know that you cannot receive anything but good gifts. Think of those special "sinners," who block your way, as gracious gifts from your heavenly Father. Look at a sinner and mentally say, "I think you are wonderful."

The other fellow's criticism is a chance to give more love. You need not like what he does, but pour out forgiveness and enthusiasm lavishly, instead of dribbling it from the teeth out just because it is law. Hold your eyes on the Light and graciously lift all demands to make them into Light.

Asking puts all this in action. Ask in a positive voice for new ways to expand. Jesus said, "Ask in my name believing." That is law. Ask once then thank God graciously a thousand times an hour in advance of receiving. Nothing happens unless you ask, believing you have it, and thanking opens the way to receptivity.

Seeking finds forgiveness. Seek new and ingenious ways to make others more comfortable.

Knocking opens the door to receiving. Knock with a velvet glove or a padded mallet, which is how the Master knocks, in inevitable, unwavering persistence. Desire is knocking, so open the door and say, "Come in, Father. I know You have already supplied the miracle. Let it become visible."

The law is, "Give, and you will receive." Give enough love until you burst with compassion. Giving vitalizes everything.

Ask and receive graciously. You may receive two ways, on opposite poles of receiving. The husband in one family was out of work, his wife was sick and could not cook. Her friend phoned and said that she and her husband were bringing a complete dinner. The wife thought her husband would love it. He praised it when it came and later phoned his friends to tell them how fine it was. That telephone call lifted the givers and the receivers in their current trouble.

The other pole is this: Her friend called to say that they were bringing dinner. The sick wife said, "Oh, you shouldn't have. It's too much," and her husband protested all evening from a sense of false pride. By the time the givers left, they wished they had never given their friends dinner.

Are you a gracious receiver? If another gives you love and appreciation, receive the praise joyously and graciously, thank God, and give Him the credit. Maintain a constant watchfulness over giving and receiving to do great things.

You need an eternal flaming desire to know more and to express God in serene action. Ascend into poise, peace, serenity, and patience. You will not need peace or patience if you stand in poise, for you will have become law.

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. – Matthew 7:7-8. These verses contain three outstanding words: Ask, seek and knock. Scholars have interpreted them many ways.

No greater misinterpretation has been placed on words other than these. This is not surprising since every letter has twenty-two hidden meanings and different interpretations under Kabbalistic work, which forms their complete and true meaning.

As a scientist may tear down his formula to rebuild and cooperate with other scientists, so should ministers do according to this pattern of inquiry: Ask what? Seek where? Knock how? These are the points on which you can become unbalanced. Some are afraid to ask; they are the escapists. Some pound on the doors of Heaven so hard that they muddle their quest. Finding the point of balance in the center is difficult.

These three words are verbs of action. What is this evil? Evil is turning your back on the Light. Most people seek the world and its darkness rather than facing the Light.

If you can give good gifts to your children, how much greater can your Father give you? What good gifts does your Father give you? Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. – Matthew 7:12.

God gives, but cannot set aside His own law. He will say, "Child, you must pay your debts." You cannot go bankrupt with God. Ask to see the Heavenly Reserve Bank. God cannot possibly become insolvent. This brings you to the point where you must act. You are accountable for all your negative thoughts and imaginings. Thoughts go around the world seven times, gathering every vibration of the same degree and kind before they return to you.

Negative people tune in your negative thoughts, amplify them, and you are responsible for lifting what they add. You can be negative and tune in their negative broadcasts, too. This process works for good when the thoughts are good. Everyone and all processes operate under the principle of reciprocity, which includes the law of forgiveness. For example, you are breathing the same air today that the Red Chinese breathed last night.

Forgiveness cleanses blots and soiled soul robes. To forgive means to give for. Your privilege is to choose what you give. Neither God nor the Councils above take cognizance of a family's judgments of its members. They have the soul records and they know the truth.

How can you know how often another has gone to God, knelt, asked forgiveness and had his record wiped clean? How dare you declare someone a sinner and charge a double debt, to him and to yourself? Jesus forgave sins. So shall we. Forgiveness means to forgive your special type of sinner, all those to whom you have charged your special debts of blame.

Heal yourself of blaming. See sin no longer. Ask the Father to love the person enough through you instead of blaming him as a sinner. When you have given those who knock you enough love, they stop. Go out, find sinners and give them a blessing bath. Even their criticism is a gift when you know that you cannot receive anything but good gifts. Criticism is a gift that gives you a chance to give more love.

Asking puts all this in action. Seeking finds forgiveness. Knocking opens the door to receiving. You may receive two ways, and two stories illustrate them.

In one family, the husband out of work and the wife was sick; she could not cook. Her friend phoned and said that she and her husband were bringing a complete dinner. The wife thought her husband would love it; he praised it when it came and later phoned his friends to say how fine it was. That telephone call lifted both the givers and the receivers in their current trouble.

The other version is this: the friend called to say that they were bringing dinner. The sick wife said, "Oh, you shouldn't. It's too much." The unemployed husband also protested all evening. By the time the givers left, they wished they had never brought their friends dinner.

These are the two opposite poles of receiving. Are you a gracious receiver? If another praises you with love and appreciation, thank God and give Him the credit. Yet, you also joyously and graciously receive the praise yourself.

Ask in a positive voice. Maintain a constant watchfulness over giving and receiving to do great things. Hold your eyes on the Light and graciously lift all payable-on-demand drafts to convert them into Light. Sinners are gracious gifts from your heavenly Father. Ask for new ways to expand. The law is to give and you shall receive. Seek ways to make others comfortable.

Knock politely with a velvet glove and a padded mallet. This is how the Master knocks in inevitable, unwavering persistence, an eternal flaming desire to know and express more of God. Perfect action is serene. Ascend into poise, peace, serenity, and patience. Stand where poise is and you will need no peace or patience; you will have become law.

And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. – Matthew 21:22. Believing in what? Believing in God. That is law. Ask once, then thank God a thousand times in advance. Tell Him you are waiting to receive it graciously. You cannot have action unless you ask, believing you have it, and gracious thanking is the way to the receptive point.

Your desire for a miracle is knocking at the door. When you have asked, open the door and say, "Come in. Father, I know You have already supplied it. Let it become visible." Give until you burst with compassion. Ask and receive graciously. Give enough love, too, for your forgiveness must be lavish.

Pour out enthusiasm; do not dribble it from the teeth out just because it is law. Look at a sinner and say, "I think you are wonderful in this one thing." You need not like what another does. Choose not to see it. Give love for it. Your giving vitalizes everyone and everything.

Faith Conquers

This Edna Lister sermon outline is dated October 11, 1953, Tacoma, Washington. Scriptures: James 2:10, 14, 18, 26 and James 1:5-8, 17, 22-26.

When we consider the Source, we must admit that a Source does exist. Wisdom and Love emanate from the Source as Energy, in vibration and motion. Mind, Substance and Power are unalterable principles, functioning through a plan, through faith and through action.

You must have some kind of plan, either self or soul-centered. Faith is the substance and quality of things hoped for, and the action of your faith takes on the quality of self or soul in expression.

You cannot alter the principle of faith, but can only apply your faith through action. Faith expresses in action through the Father, thinking as you in wisdom, through the Mother, feeling as you in love, and through the Son, doing as you in constancy and joy.

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. – James 1:5. God is always waiting for you to become perfect without finding fault or scolding you. He "upbraideth" you not.

You must comply with the laws of approach. What is your plan? What is your "open sesame"? Steadfastly stand before the door, day and night, until it opens. To do this, you maynot be double-minded.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. – James 1:17. Faith is a good gift, a perfect gift from the Father above. You need this quality of devotion. God cannot cast a shadow. So, face the Light, and turn again unto the Father.

How long it will take you to act is the measure of the quantity of your faith. When you act in faith, you are a doer of the Word, not a hearer only. You can hear about truth, think about it and talk about it withoutbecoming truth. If you fail in one word, you fail on that point, and dilute your whole action. You must ascend in consciousness and change the quantity of your doing.

You must be like the little boy, whose Sunday school teacher a used peanut and a cup to teach this lesson. She ostentatiously placed a peanut under the cup and asked, "Who can see the peanut?" Silence. She asked a second question, "How many know the peanut is under the cup?" Then she asked a third question, "Billy, what is faith?" Billy answered, "Faith is a peanut under a cup!" Faith without works is the cup.

The quality and quantity of your faith and doing depend on your desire moving up to mate with will and becoming I AM consciousness, intuition and illumination. First, your approach must be steadfast. God casts no shadow. Faith casts no shadow. Second, the quality of devotion can be no greater than the quality of your love. Third, the quantity of your actions, time, hours and doing must be enough.

You can be known by your works! Desire is the steadfast upholding faith. The Creative Impulse ascending becomes the bellows blowing will and desire into a flaming determination, so that your faith is steadfast, glorious and free. Do not seek to conquer faith. "Let" faith be the conqueror. "Let" faith conquer you.

Your "Added Things"

This Edna Lister Bible study outline is dated May 22, 1955, Tacoma, Washington. Scriptures: Matthew 6:8, Matthew 6:33 and Matthew 7:7-8.

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. – Matthew 7:7-8. This verse begs us to ask, seek and knock, but to ask what, seek where and knock how?

Your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. – Matthew 6:8. People ask, "Why must I do these things when my Father already knows what I need before I ask? Why does He make it so hard for me when I must struggle so much here below?"

God gave you an immense amount of soul substance before you descended in this Day of Manifestation. He gave you an Oversoul Star filled with a huge supply of soul substance, stamped with your name vibration, untouchable by any other.

Each Star has only one key. I have mine, you have yours, every soul has its own key to unlock this vast star storehouse. If He had not given you the key, you would have no free will. Not only is your birth-star filled for you, ready to use, but a vast reserve supply is also awaiting your call on God's Reserve Bank of Light.

Remember, no one else can contact, touch or use your private account in God's Reserve Bank. It contains all your buried talents and hidden treasure of substance and life. It is glory and all "added things" to come, waiting, waiting, waiting.

Although God knows when you need the substance, you have the key. Even He cannot confiscate your key or unlock this storehouse for you. You must use your own key to open the lock.

The key has three notches named ask, seek and knock. You must also open three doors with the same key, one behind another. The key itself is love.

The first door is instinctive intelligence moving up to intellectual reasoning. Instinctive intelligence greedily takes, grasps, and forces, saying, "I will have it, I demand my rights. I am right." It takes a lot of fumbling to fit the key into this tiny keyhole, but truth slowly enters to fill your consciousness.

The second door opens to intellectual reasoning, where you learn more, though you still use law to provide good reasons for doing as you please. You use techniques you find in books, compare teachers and methods until you have bound yourself between the covers of all the books you have bought. You still need proof, because you still must see it before you believe it.

Finally, you ascend in consciousness to the third door, to Christed "I AM," the Oversoul consciousness, which also opens your Star storehouse, filled with substance. You ask, seek and knock until the three doors unlock instantly as an act of unconquerable faith.

The unlimited potential Power is magnificent beyond compare. Speaking the Word starts your soul substance flowing from your Star as more life, which is renewed from the Heavenly Reserve Bank as fast as you use it, in a million years, a day or an instant.

When you surrender to the Power's use, you open the third door to Christed God-consciousness. Moving up, tall and free, you ask more love of God, and seek to be used in more ways.

Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. – Matthew 6:33. Finally, you knock on the door to the kingdom first. In one smooth act, your key opens the final door to the vast storehouse awaiting your needs.

The Heavenly Reserve Bank of supply does fill all your needs amply, to overflowing, for you have reached your Father's Home. He knows what you need before you ask Him, and you receive before you ask.

One Life in Christ 1

This Edna Lister Bible study outline is dated June 26, 1955, Tacoma, Washington. Scripture: John 14:6-14.

Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him. Philip said to him, Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us. Jesus said to him, Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known me, Philip? He who has seen me has seen the Father, so how can you say, Show us the Father'? Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does the works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father in me, or else believe me for the sake of the works themselves. Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to my Father. And whatever you ask in my name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in my name, I will do it. – John 14:12-14.

Do you believe this Scripture? How can you tell when you believe? When your faith is strong, you are up in consciousness. When your faith is weak, you are down in the dumps. You can be no stronger than your greatest weakness, yet conquering makes your greatest strength from the weakest of your weaknesses.

The Master promised, "The works that I do you will do also; and greater works than these will you do, because I go to my Father." Is his going enough? Oh no. You are supposed to follow him, to the Father. Choose to be a satisfactory "image" of the Father. Do your friends want to go up in consciousness when they see you, when you speak?

Unless you prune your self, life will do the pruning for you. Not only must you "believe and ask in my name," but must prune, and "ask in my name." The Power does the work, but it depends on you to be its channel and instrument.

You do know the way. You do know the truth. You do know the Source. You have seen the Father. When you see anything evil, you know that it is still His substance, malformed bodies are still His substance.

Jesus told us to come to the Father "by me." Your growth depends on your answer to this call, not riding on Jesus' coat tails, but following him, and making ladders of your tests, trials and temptations, instead of crosses.

One Life in Christ 2

This Edna Lister Bible study transcript is dated June 26, 1955, Tacoma, Washington. Scribe: Ruth Bender Collord. Scripture: John 14:6-14.

The fourteenth chapter of John is wonderful. Philip asked Jesus to show them the Father, and Jesus explains that this is possible only if you believe. "It does not yet appear what you shall be," and all is One.

You see God everywhere if you have seen Love or heard the words of Wisdom. You have seen the Father, every time you look in the mirror. Ask yourself, "How am I representing the Father?" When you look into the face of evil, are you seeing God? When someone curses, do you hear them?

You either believe that all is perfect, or you do not. The same divine substance flows through the universe, or does it? Your body is not your soul. The body is not you. You dwell in this body, which is yours to use, and you are the master of it. Do you let it dictate to you? This is the basis for your healing, when you accept that you are the master. As a victor, as Henley said,

"I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul."

Tell the body, "If you knew where I am going, you'd stop howling." Then act as if you can, and do it.

The Christ principle and its expression are the source of your life and ability. The laws of God must rule you, not the subconscious mind. Further, you must choose to live by the laws of Christ. You cannot change the laws of mathematics, so why try? You can live by love, and God's addition and multiplication. To live by the dictates of the subconscious mind is to live by subtraction and division.

Do you believe that God is, and that He has all strength? That divine strength moves through, according to your goals. Make them great. Nothing limits what you can do with the equipment of the Lord God Almighty. Your subconscious laziness limits you. You are still saying, "Show me the Father."

Things that are material are amenable to love, which can refashion anything into its original form. Music, for instance, releases the vibration of the harmony of God, which is destined to heal.

History has proven that a singer or an instrumentalist has at times brought through such Power that people have thrown away their crutches and props and were healed because they had seen the Father.

I Accept 2

This Edna Lister sermon transcript is dated June 27, 1954, Cleveland, Ohio. Scribe: Ruth Johnson. Scripture: Matthew 5:23-26.

"I accept" means "to take responsibility, to find what comes favorable, to be reconciled, to receive gladly" and as graciously as you give. Grace is an eternal Godlike quality of the soul.

To accept involves a choice. You accept your place in life hopefully or hopelessly, satisfied or dissatisfied, complaining but doing nothing about it. Some people consider it nonresistance to accept hopelessly. Others accept aggressively, but both modes deny the Source.

You cannot pull your plug from the Source of Power and still have the energy to run efficiently here. Many pull their plugs and go to bed, accepting the resulting physical weakness.

You must accept from the soul side. God fills your Oversoul star with perfect substance when you declare: "I accept my heavenly inheritance that God has a plan for me, one that I can know, see and hear."

You must have a firm foundation of divine principle before you can say, "I accept," because the world challenges you when you claim your heavenly estate. Your inheritance must include enough wisdom and substance to plan and build perfect prayer molds.

Your overall plan must be well defined, and you must bring back the day's plan each morning. Then you must love enough to fulfill law and your plan. For example, Job believed until Satan challenged him. He fell to the bottom, but when he bounced back, God redoubled his riches.

Miracles abound when you are able to recognize the action of law in your life. Small miracles, like almost dropping something but catching it in time, happen all day. Blaming the "almost" is cursing God. Love God enough to praise Him instantly.

God pours out enough love and wisdom for the world daily, so too bad if you forget to collect your share. Declare, "I accept that I must have enough faith to hold me steadfast in action." Stand and call everything good, which is the wonderful foundation that holds you.

Two factors are important, the ability to choose and to act. According to the law, you must transpose each earthly experience into a lesson that reveals the divine law to obey. Acceptance of new laws is a matter of personal choice.

Collecting your inheritance is your choice, too, so be greedy in claiming your portion at the window of abundance. Forty others take your place when you step out of line with blame and negativity, so go to your tower room of I AM consciousness without resenting the phone or doorbell. Pour out love and wisdom as faith, no matter what twaddle you hear.

Once you decide to claim your inheritance, you discover that your only choice is God. "Trying" will bring you to boiling, but only choosing God takes you to the point of white-hot faith needed for a miracle a minute. Ascend and love God enough. How much is enough? When you hold the miracle in your hand.

Every request is good, even if you burn your fingers, or if your desire is gone when you get what you prayed for. When you love God enough, and make strong decrees, He will send the right answer that will expand with your joy and needs.

First be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison. Verily I say unto thee, thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing. – Matthew 5:24-26. Love God enough to agree quickly.

Acceptance chooses to cooperate with law. If you are drawing on your inheritance, you accept full responsibility for the actions of everyone on your lines of Light.

You may not offend, so search for inoffensive ways to speak truth. You must not smudge your page, and you do not want a dirty page in anyone's Book of Life. If you are innocent when blamed, erase the blot by saying, "I love you."

You cannot give if you hold anything against anyone. If you break one law, you break them all.

After you choose to agree, act quickly by going to your tower room to lift. Your subconscious will create an adversary if a single "enemy" thought remains. People who say, "I just can't agree with that," still believe in enemies, which creates an entity, a dark cloud of force that clings.

An adversary will take you to the judge, who will give you to the officer, who will deliver you to prison. The basement is three steps down, but your tower room is only one up.

The judge is your Oversoul, speaking as conscience, reminding you of law. The officer is regret. Think of the hours you have wasted in regret.

God does not hand you to the officer if you apologize without regrets and erase your name from your adversary's page. Some people have so many smudges on others' pages that they run out of room.

The prison is remorse, which is a sense of guilt. Many are in prison because they do not know how to lift their regrets to a cloud of Light.

To agree with an adversary means to love God more than the self. Reach up to God and love Him. Say, "Father, use me."

Agree with your adversary, saying, "I love you. How wonderful you are." You may never nag anyone, but you can mentally shout it, even in the business world.

Love is the panacea for all occasions. The magnetic current rushes up through the navel center when you lift your hands to pray. Light moves in from above, and you ascend on an intake of breath for strength.

Love as Light fills your aura in this place of love's release of Power. The Light returns to you in a steady stream of Power when you have no enemies on the outer.

How do you get rid of enemies? Love God enough. Build a "fire zone" of protection, a wall of consuming fire to change whatever touches you to Light. Then no harm can come near you. Why? Because your actions are saying, "I accept my own inheritance and choose Light."

"I accept my place at the banker's window of heaven, ready to collect my share of beauty, my inheritance. I accept my body as God's perfect temple of the soul. I accept my place as a perfect instrument of Light." <>"I accept all the angels of Love and Wisdom on either side of me. I accept the faith that goes before me. I accept my great place in the outer now. I prepare myself by cooperating with God as my Father of Wisdom, my Source of all Power, love, joy, life, glory."

"Father, accept my new vows as my intent of payment on the new strength and glory, which are coming to me. I am infallible, unconquerable faith. Use me greatly."

Agreeing and Adjusting

This Edna Lister Bible study outline for October 14, 1955, Tacoma, Washington. Scripture: Matthew 5:25.

Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison. – Matthew 5:25.

The "enemy" idea presupposes that some adversary exists outside of you, not within your own consciousness. This, in fact, is untrue. The first place to look for the enemy is within the self.

The first law in ascension of consciousness is to accept everything that comes to you as something that the Father is depending on you to lift into the Light, or to fill with Light. If the thing is or appears to be evil, agree with God that all things are good, even the evil and the stinkers. Their substance is God's and is perfect despite what they may have done to it.

When you have agreed with God that this is good, you will find it a simple matter to adjust to the peculiarities, inanities and downright nastiness of your fellow man. Even the evil ones you may meet are nothing more than fuel for the fire of your ascension.

People ask, "How do I lift?" The simplest approach is to think of lifting as a game of "Pretend." Imagine that you see the person on a cloud of Light, kneeling before an altar. Or imagine yourself sitting in a beautiful garden, filled with Light and the most gorgeous flowers, whatever you think makes a perfect garden.

First, fill your prayers with praise. Then declare, "I AM now enfolded in the heart of a sphere of Light. I AM now touching this innermost Power. This Power goes forth to accomplish, to fulfill my decrees. This Light is divine, complete, all-seeing and all-knowing. Let me be fully surrendered for this Power to use. I am now open to receive full illumination."

Now decree perfection of healing for all those whom you have lifted on your lines of responsibility. Preface each decree with "Let."
