Vitality
Vitality is the seat of life, essential to existence, indispensable
; the principle on which life depends; the capacity to live, to grow, or to develop.
Vitality is the immaterial impetus, which drives living beings to grow, change and adapt creatively. It is similar to the élan vital proposed by French metaphysician and philosopher Henri Bergson, who described it as “the explosive internal force that life carries within itself.” However, this impetus to life operates perfectly only when it is consciously directed and controlled by the rational mind of the embodied soul as an expression of maturity.
“The Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”–Genesis 2:7
Vitality, in its highest expression, is among the first principles of the Godhead. Within the embodied soul vitality is classed as a virtue, a power, or strength. Restoring vitality to the body is impossible unless the soul is resurrected from the death of apathy to a health-giving level of increased desire to live, which we often refer to as inspiration or aspiration. Every instance of physical healing or resurrection from the dead noted in scripture involves such an increase in vitality.
Send forth love to vitalize and quicken all the lines of Light and responsibility God has entrusted to you.–Edna Lister, April 19, 1940
An example of vitality: Awareness is immediate vitalized consciousness that God is all in all, through all and all, as all. Awareness makes your present place very holy ground and makes you the servant of all the Power. You must become a center of life and transmit Love to all. Love contains seven qualities that are vital to become—purity, humility, compassion, empathy, sincerity, loyalty and gratitude.
When you separate the inner life from the outer life, when you abdicate outer responsibility for your creative life on earth, when you want to leave it all to God, you lower every aspect of your physical-material body, affairs, and consciousness toward lifelessness, the death of vitality. How can anyone who is weak, drained dry of Godly vitality, give anything of lifting Light to the world?
All quickening, vitalizing Power comes from above to nourish your soul. Your body uses everything you eat and drink as energy and substance for rebuilding itself. Healing is “letting” spiritual substance, the Holy Breath, vitalize your very cells into the ability to change, to transform.–Edna Lister, March 1941
Laughter revitalizes because it restores youth. Self-criticism wastes universal energy and so devitalizes you.–Edna Lister, April 6, 1945
The Power of the living God can reform or recreate substance. The breathing of almighty Power is the basis for healing. Rest for five minutes before meals, then make a five-pointed star of your body and breathe deeply. After work, raise your arms high and declare, “I am revitalized by the Power of God and I can work another eight hours!”–Edna Lister, August 4, 1949
Do you want to stay where you are, or ascend? Do you want to be more vital? What would you sell to ascend on the Power that goes through you, to be stronger, more vital and more successful?–Edna Lister, November 18, 1949
The graciousness, the loveliness, the tenderness and the mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ now fills me, vitalizes me, and moves through me and all my affairs.–Edna Lister, June 5, 1951
The graciousness, loveliness, tenderness and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ fills me, moves through me and all my affairs, and vitalizes me.–Edna Lister, July 24, 1951
The second degree of breath is vital, the rhythmic, pulsating respiration of the microcosm of living cells and tissues, the lower expression of the macrocosmic Holy Breath of God. On this degree, in this rarified state of substance, God differentiates part of His Being into the Creation as man and the myriad forms of Light and life while still retaining the flowing oneness of spiritual substance. This is the atomic breath that fuels the mental body, and it holds all the potential power of becoming. Thus, the vital breath becomes whatever forms man's desire and will can modify and color it to be. Man can create from the macrocosm, according to God's pattern, or abortively, if he pollutes the breath by imagining wrong forms. The Sanskrit name for this breath is Atman, meaning breath
or spirit.
–Edna Lister, June 18, 1952
The Holy Breath, the Christ Light, is the atomic energy that descends to fill, vitalize and quicken you and all of earth.–Edna Lister, Atomic Energy and Creative Mind, June 18, 1952
Form follows function: The lungs are one of the body’s major ways of eliminating harmful toxins and gasses. Fish have little gills, but humans have large lungs! The Breath of Life is in the life sparks, which are tiny fiery lives. Every element you need for the care of the physical, vital and spiritual bodies is in the air you breathe, so breathe deeply!–Edna Lister, Unconscious Breathing, October 6, 1955
You pay a high price for self-pity, criticism, and opinions for they upset the vital life processes in every system of your body.–Edna Lister, The Brain: Our Instrument of Power, September 24, 1957
Better to be eternally on watch for the stumbling block in your path than to praise God on your face from having tripped and fallen!–Edna Lister, December 15, 1958
You inhale Light with seven breaths as One through the crown of the head. Light waters the garden of Eden, then descends to the sacrum plexus at the base of the spine. It vitalizes physical organs, glands and nerves, quickens desire body vital centers and mental body lotus centers and stimulates the heart sun center in the soul's fire body. Deep breathing will draw in earth's magnetic currents to combine with Light from above in the sacrum; this causes it to ascend the spine as creative fire. As Light ascends the spine, it touches the gonads, liver, spleen and the adrenal glands. The ascending Light creates an explosion of Light at the solar plexus, which cannot happen without deep breathing.–Edna Lister, June 16, 1959
Allow universal Mind to flow through you freely, and let Christed consciousness possess you. Then and only then can Power step in to fully quicken and vitalize. You soon feel it in every cell of the body and in all your affairs. The only tools you use are your consuming flame of desire, vivid imagination, and divinely bestowed faculty of thinking. They are the only tools you shall ever have or require.–Edna Lister, May 24, 1960
Unless you face every day as a new adventure, you devitalize yourself and become confused because you are disintegrated. When you let the spirit of adventure within you die, you go to seed.–Edna Lister, The Key to Integration, June 6, 1961
Every atom of your being has to be vitalized by the Breath of God to do the work so the molecular vital centers can whirl light and vitalize your body.–Edna Lister, June 13, 1967
