Laws in the Letters of John

God is Light and in Him is no darkness at all.–1 John 1:5

If we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.–1 John 1:7

We do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.–1 John 2:3

Whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.–1 John 2:5

He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.–1 John 2:6

He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness.–1 John 2:9

He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.–1 John 2:10-11

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.–1 John 2:15

For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.–1 John 2:16

He is Antichrist who denies the Father and the Son.–1 John 2:22

Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.–1 John 2:23

If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.–1 John 2:29

Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.–1 John 3:2

Every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.–1 John 3:3

Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.–1 John 3:4

He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.–1 John 3:8

Let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.–1 John 3:18

If our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.–1 John 3:20

Whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.–1 John 3:22

Believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.–1 John 4:1

Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.–1 John 4:2‑3

We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.–1 John 4:6

Let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.–1 John 4:7

He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.–1 John 4:8

No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.–1 John 4:12

Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.–1 John 4:13

God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.–1 John 4:16

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.–1 John 4:18

He who loveth God love his brother also.–1 John 4:21

This is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.–1 John 5:3

Whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.–1 John 5:4

There are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.–1 John 5:7

There are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.-1 John 5:8

God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.–1 John 5:11

If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.–1 John 5:16

Follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.–3 John 1:11
