The Key to Integration of Soul and Spirit outline
Edna Lister, June 6, 1961, Cleveland, OH
The story behind this lecture is a perfect example of non-integration. When this subject was first given to me early this year during Lent, I knew how I wanted to approach it and what I wanted to say. The idea grew hazy in the press of press of heavy study and demands on my time. Then, while I was packing, I realized that I had lost my notes. I looked up to God but had no answer, and still had no notes. How could there be any integration of soul and spirit when I didn’t know what God wanted? I had only half of what I needed, but there is no chance for full integration until God moves in.
The first rule for complete integration is that you must have all the facts, and they must be arranged in a balanced logical form. If you don’t approach it this way, you can be startled or surprised out of a lesser or surface integration. To integrate soul with spirit, you must first have perfect integration of your own body, heart (emotions), and mind with soul.
What is integration? To integrate is “to renew; to restore; to perfect; to make a thing entire.”–Webster’s American Dictionary. So integration is to complete an imperfect thing by the addition of parts to make up a whole. An incomplete life needs to have all missing parts added. So, without all the facts, you can be unbalanced by some new fact that upsets your previous balance. What is soul? Soul is an individualized expression, an individuated manifestation of God, endowed with all qualities, attributes, potential powers and parts of God, with nothing omitted.
What is Spirit? Spirit is The All, the absolute unmanifest Wisdom, Love, and the Logos made manifest as the working principles of the Mind, Substance, and Power of God. Spirit is the River of Life, of vitality endlessly flowing from the Source to the outermost rim of Creation and back to the Source. In this river we “live, move and have our being” (Acts 17:28). As it flows by, you extend your mental antennae into it—like fly fishing—to catch whatever you need—strength, love, power, and so on. You number and name this new substance with your own eternal number and name as you extract it to build your miracles into form.
To gain a basic integration, you must first have a perfect foundation, which is God. So you must learn to coordinate your body’s vision, nerves, and muscles perfectly. Many sports activities do this; for example, in golfing, you begin with the proper stance, positioning your feet and knees. You address the ball, turn your hips, bend your shoulders and neck while keeping your eyes focused on the ball. Then you raise your club and swing in a complete coordination of bones, muscles, nerves, and eyes.
The second step in integration is to achieve equilibrium at your heart by balancing your emotions and lifting them to merge with your unselfish desires as perfect love. At the same time you lift your self-centered will into balance with God’s will for you so you may become one with your Oversoul’s I AM consciousness. Third, you need mental balance to surrender self and become the servant of all God’s Power. Then you can reach your goal of becoming a conquering soul, not living by self, but by soul as your basic goal.
Next you must have a key, the right key to open the door to heaven. What shall it be? Love is the only coordinator great enough to smooth away all differences, all conflicts among body, heart, mind, and soul. Soul pulls all the other phases of being up into the greater Light. This degree of love is not piety, which is often a coverup for hidden inner conflicts that the pious soul has refused to face. Love must bring devotion and faith into perfect integration so you can give your devotion to and faith in the same thing at the same time.
Whether you are a speaker or a singer, when you follow the written or musical notes through your soul’s focus, you can harmonize with the audience or the members of an orchestra so that all may respond to the high vibration. You are able then to help them to integrate their lives by releasing power from the harmony of the spheres. You achieve a rapport that transforms and transports them from the ordinary to the sublime. When you follow the notes or script objectively, with the mind only, without the soul’s inspiration, you leave your audience feeling indifferent and wooden toward your subject and your voice. Your message or song cannot lift anyone when they are thinking, “She leaves me cold.” An icy static condition offers no appeal.
So, to be integrated, you must have a perfect working coordination among body, heart, mind, and soul. However, you miss reaching this perfect coordination when you have God and anything else. Your coordination can be perfect only when you have God as everything.
How can we illustrate this? The German Shepherd dog that starred in “Strongheart” had been trained as a police dog in Germany, and his owner worked hard to retrain him to be a friendlier dog. One day, a child ran up to him and he growled, bared his teeth, and acted viciously. Yet the child, in perfect love, which casts out all fear, threw her arms around his neck—instead of attacking, he licked her face.
Pure love can do anything because it liberates the energy and powers of the physical, but unless love expends itself in outside action, it will stagnate until you have less and less energy. Unless you make each day a new adventure, your spirit of adventure will go to seed and result in boredom. Then you find yourself devitalized and confused by a guilt complex because you have failed to live up to the life God gave you. When you let your life be broken into smaller and smaller fragments of self, no coordination is possible and you have no hope of integration.
Love integrates your faith, praise, and joy into your now conquering soul. An integrated life is born from having a conquering soul. How can you be integrated with Spirit? Move up and love God enough. Then you can add to your outer life all the missing parts that make you a perfect whole, a complete son or daughter of God.
The Key to Integration of Soul and Spirit transcript
Edna Lister: Elizabeth Barnes, Ruth Johnson, scribes, June 6, 1961, Cleveland, OH
You must have all the facts to have integration—two thirds of the facts won’t do. You must first know what God wants in your life. You are only half the equation, for you can’t have full integration until God moves in. All religions accept this; however it’s a far cry from merely saying that God can move in to actually letting Him do it. Some souls listen to their own Oversoul and believe God is speaking while others may hear that inner voice and think it’s imagination or a devil!
The truth is, if you can lose your poise over anything, you can be disintegrated—not dissolved but discombobulated. You can have a lesser integration or a surface integration, but to have full integration of soul and spirit, you must integrate your body, heart, and mind with your soul. Yes, you are a four-way person. Your entire living soul is composed of life sparks, which are the finest grade of Light as substance; scientists are still seeking the point of their origin. God numbers and names every life spark as He creates a soul from the Source of its being, and this unique number and name are eternal. As an embodied soul, life sparks make up one quarter of your full living soul’s substance.
Integration is a process of completing an imperfect thing by the addition of the proper parts to make it a perfectly whole thing. Lack of integration is the lack of some parts, parts which are therefore not yet integrated. Without all the facts and elements that make up all parts of the whole you, you can be imbalanced by new facts for which you have no explanation or which do not understand. When you first realize some new truth and say, “I never thought of it that way before,” you really have not thought about it at all.
Thinking includes the faculties of logic, reason, discernment, discrimination, and discretion, which are also five tests you must pass to integrate your ever-developing mental processes. When you pass such a test, you may then use those newly strengthened faculties as parts of your conscious mind. When the rational soul ascends to the Oversoul, Oversoul descends and uses all the available rational mental faculties further developing them. When the rational soul reaches up to the Oversoul it can be integrated and Oversoul may rule the life. A soul is an individualized expression or manifestation of God.
Hear this scripture: “I and my Father are one. Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?”–John 10 30-36.
An ancient teaching reveals that there are several types of descended creator gods upon earth: The First Order is composed of androgynous
1 Androgynous, as we use the term, does not refer to the body, but to the soul, which is pre-gender, that is, without gender, as it is said: “They neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.”–Matthew 22:30.
The begotten gods serve as the great rulers of heavenly realms, but they were never intended to come to earth or live in physical bodies. One half of a begotten god’s soul substance remains above as pure spirit substance, while the other half enters into form. Following a vast, nearly unimaginable, period of time,—a great age in which all that had begun as spirit became form,—those souls who were spirit take on form and those who have had form ascend and begin preparation to rule planets, solar systems, and galaxies as a heavenly hierarchy.
Ultimately, in the fullness of time, all souls are given the opportunity to learn, progress and become a ruler, or to regress and lose their conscious soul identity recorded in their life sparks of soul substance. You are free to choose the manner in which you use your will, but that will is not free. What you and I really have is God’s will and the freedom to choose (free choice) what we will, and then become personally responsible for our choice’s effect.
How the Creator Gods Express. Begotten gods descend from their “home” to a predesignated station lower in the descent from the Source of their begetting. They pause at that point and wait as they “precipitate” (a “magnetic” process of “like attracts like”) an outer sheath heavier (more solid) in form as their vehicle during the next stage of their reign. During their rule, pairs of begotten gods create body sheaths for their offspring, the order of created gods, but do not create their souls. The Father breathes soul substance of the parent begotten god (life sparks with the same number and name) into the newly created sheath. Only the Supreme Father can breathe the breath of life into any differentiated part of His Creation. All universal processes operate according to this law of degree and kind.
What are the parts of you, the embodied living soul? Each Oversoul is empowered to beget enough portions to fulfill its destiny, the role for which God intends it. This is the only form of
predestinationthat is valid. In you, the embodied soul, one-quarter of your invested life sparks form your appetitive soul, which equates with subconscious mind operating as the autonomic nervous system, the operating plant of the body’s physical cells.
Another quarter of embodied life sparks hold the rational conscious phase of mind residing within the physical molecules, operating as the somatic nervous system. The rational soul also holds a third quarter of embodied life sparks, which enables instantaneous interaction with a final quarter-portion used by the Oversoul, the super-conscious mind operating within the physical atoms. This is the point at which all self-interest must be surrendered to the Oversoul, which God designed to guide, direct and control the soul’s choices and actions while in the body. Only when you achieve this goal can you experience full integration as one soul in one body.
Only the Oversoul contacts universal Spirit as Christ consciousness—“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus”–Philippians 2:5—for guidance. “We have the mind of Christ.”–1 Corinthians 2:16. This is how we know that Oversoul super-consciousness is wiser than rational or subconscious mind,—yet all are you, embodied as one living soul with Oversoul ruling. Spirit is that portion of God as Light that remains unmanifest. The River of Life contains the pattern and plan for every part of God’s Creation and renews it constantly as it flows as life throughout the universe. No place is void of God in all His qualities, abilities, and powers. Accept this life as your portion, your heritage, for God is everywhere evenly present and available.
You must ascend your consciousness from the worldly ways of thinking and its illusions before you can ascend your body’s rate of vibration. As you integrate your subconscious, conscious and super-conscious phases of mind to serve your Oversoul, you begin to express greater soul and much less self. The body begins to alter: 1,000 nerves (a symbolic number) arise from the cortex of your physical brain to form what appears to soul vision to be a 1,000-petaled lotus of flame-like lights called a halo, a nimbus, or an aureole. These extended nerves serve as an array of antennae, like a radio receiving set. When you look up in prayer, you set them afire, and if you hold your contact, you receive what Divine Mind has to give you. How long do you keep your antennae up and receiving set on to hear God?
When you ask for someone to be healed, you picture them and call them by name: “Before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.”–Isaiah 65:24. Soul substance life sparks are uniquely numbered and that number includes the soul’s true name; those who have charge of healing from the inner heed the prayer call and may then send the required amount of life sparks of the right vibration for that soul’s healing. (Continued in The Fruits of Integration, June 13, 1961.)
The Fruits of Integration transcript
Edna Lister, Elizabeth Barnes, Ruth Johnson, Irene White, scribes, June 13, 1961, Cleveland, OH
We have been discussing soul integration, which is really the result of bringing together and incorporating all your scattered fragments of mind and emotions into a whole, a consciousness of being at one with God. As a soul, you are an individualized expression, a manifestation of God, endowed with all the qualities, attributes, potential powers of God, with nothing left out.
Spirit is the all-manifest Mind, Substance, and Power of God. It is the River of Life flowing from the Source to the outermost rim and back again to the Source. In God “we live, and move, and have our being…for we are also his offspring.”–Acts 17:28. As the River of Life flows by, you may reach your antennae into it, like a fly fisherman casts his line, and catch whatever you need of strength, love, power, and so on; thus, you number and name this new substance for the miracles you need.
To accomplish anything in life you must have a goal and a firm foundation from which to act. Your sure foundation is God. This requires that you integrate your body, mind and soul to create a perfect physical coordination. How? Golf does this. You begin with the proper stance, positioning your feet and knees. You address the ball, turn your hips, bend your shoulders and neck and keep your eyes focused on the ball. Then you raise your club and swing in a complete coordination of muscles, nerves, and vision. Swimming and tennis work this way also. When you focus on God, you concentrate your mind and free your heart of emotional drag anchors.
The Hindus gave the West hatha yoga, the yoga of balanced breathing, which can take twenty years to master. Balanced breathing is necessary; however, those who have some degree of spiritual illumination all too often live on the parasympathetic fifth breath, which acts as a calmative, a mere pulsing of life spark substance. When you breathe shallowly, not enough air inflates the lungs and you act like a zombie with a fuzzy brain. You can tell whether you are doing this because periodically you are forced to take a deep breath. You’re not really living then but trying to escape life’s daily conflicts.
The key to balanced breathing is to balance your personal desire and will with the desire and will of God for you. Only then can you reach Oversoul’s I AM consciousness, which is the mind that was in Christ Jesus. Once ascended into balance, purified desire rules the pituitary gland and opens the soul faculty of intuition, while selfless will rules the pineal body as illumination. This is how to lift your emotions without trying to deaden or to “kill” them. When you surrender your mind to become the mind that was in Christ Jesus, the Mind of God can register on your brain cells.
Your goal is to overcome self, to live by soul as your basic “good,” as a conquering soul. The key that opens the door to heaven is love, which is the only true coordinator in the universe. Only love can smooth the conflicts of body, heart, mind, and soul. When you surrender to the power of love you ascend in consciousness and can give your devotion and faith to the same thing at the same time without inner conflict or friction.
For example, when a singer or musician becomes soul-integrated with the music, he can harmonize with all those involved, orchestra and audience—everyone can respond to the same high vibration as he takes them up with him. An integrated person exercises dynamic power in the world. If he loves his work enough, his love sets the colors of his aura afire, which others can feel even if they cannot see it. When you are en rapport and integrated in body, heart, mind, and soul, looking to Spirit to guide you, you are transported and can transform and transport others along with you.
The “objective” singer or musician may be technically perfect in his performance, but because he is not integrated, he leaves his audience cold. A truly talented performer is integrated with his art because he has surrendered to its beauty and become one with it: God as him is now giving the world this gift of beauty. A static condition makes no appeal. A non-integrated person appeals to no one because he is expressing self, not a talent he has developed by his soul’s devotion to the beauty of his art.
So, to be integrated, you must have a perfect working coordination between body, heart, mind, and soul. You miss the mark of perfect coordination when you have God and anything else. The goal is God alone, God as everything, everywhere evenly present and available; God in all, through all, as all. To be integrated, God must be your only goal. Your coordination is perfect only when you have God as everything.
Devote your life to being aware that God is using you whenever you devote and reconsecrate you soul to Him. For example, you can declare that any tone of hate you may hear is good: “This is good! Let there be Light!” You are God’s agent, the one who must contact Spirit instantly; don’t wait for someone else to do it. Individualized mind must act upon power and substance to become manifest by the spoken Word to accomplish good. Hate grows when you recognize it as hate, but decreases and disappears when you term it “love.” Declare, “Light changes this tone into pure love!” This consumes hatred because love liberates energy when expressed with fervor. Love can liberate enough energy to carry you through even the roughest the day. Unless love expends itself, it crystallizes and your life and affairs stagnate.
Don’t confuse love with piety. Piety is a coverup for inner conflicts you’ve not faced—guilt, resentment, anger, a revenge motive. Any Christian who merely looks pious is hiding his inner conflict. A guilt complex devitalizes and confuses you. How do you counteract this disintegration? Face every day as a new adventure! When you let the spirit of adventure die, you go to seed and allow life to break your consciousness into many fragments. Unless each day is a new adventure, there is no renewal of life. When the spirit of adventure goes to seed, the result is boredom.
Love integrates your devotion and faith into joyous praise and it turns you into a conquering soul. How do you integrate with Spirit?—move up into your God-given prayer room of light and love God enough. Stand under your own personal shaft of Light, and know that God’s love is moving through you to the world. Say to God, “I love You, Father!” and the Word of Light becomes a flame of Light in your golden bowl.
“Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”–Matthew 6:33. Integration adds all missing parts which are nothing more than a lack of love of God and man. Do this and all things are added! Move into the House of the Lord and stay there. No matter where you find yourself on earth, stay there in God’s house. Your choice must be your Father’s house, which then becomes your special center of light right where you are. Earth seems a sorry place only when you drag your tail feathers in the dust. It’s all a matter of choice, so choose to fly high instead!
Everyone must choose between a mere demonstration of will and God’s miracles of Light. When you’ve forced a demonstration then wondered if you were right, you get nowhere. Stand up before God. Love Him. Stand and wait upon the Lord for fulfillment. It may take time, but it works! How do you integrate your soul with Spirit? By moving up and loving God enough you add all the missing parts to your outer life to make you a perfect, whole, complete Son or Daughter of God!
Integration: Do You Trust Your Own Decisions? transcript
Edna Lister, Margaret Doan, Ruth Johnson, Lotus Landis, Irene White, scribes, June 20, 1961, Cleveland, OH
We know that integration is to complete an imperfect thing by the addition of parts to make up a perfect whole, and an incomplete life needs more parts. The truth is that there is no chance for full integration until you add God to the equation, for integration must have all facts balanced with nothing overlooked.
Have you decided on your degree of integration yet? Is Oversoul’s I AM consciousness, the Christ mind, going to do the lifting and lift the little me? Each soul must do this. You don’t work to just “try to be patient.” Just trying will never work. Instead, move your desire up to God’s desire for you and integrate your ascended desire with God’s will for you. This is how to reach a high point of poise, from whence Power descends. When you can enter into this vital center of life and Light, you will know true peace: “The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”–Philippians 4:7
Do you really trust your own decisions? The lesser degrees, the Neophyte, Disciple, and Adept work under the control of self, but the Master, Priest and Christos all work on a vibration above self-control—by soul-conquering. To work by soul successfully, you must always be looking up for the answers, not out to the world. Ascension is essentially a raised vibration of body, emotions, mind, and soul. All healing is the result of ascension. The process of all material science is a form of ascension. What do we mean by this? Well, for example, a healed liver is an ascended liver. (She said this in a droll manner.)
You have to conquer self to ascend. Just concentrating mentally never ascends you fully, for it’s the lesser work of an adept on a worldly, material level. Do you let self drag your soul down into conflict, or do you ascend into the Light and declare it good? Surrender the self you’ve invested in anything that holds you back and you will ascend that much higher. When you trust in the love of God His love upholds you. As you climb in consciousness, you discover that contrition, repentance, and remission of sin are absolutely critical steps; you can’t ascend without them. The first goal in ascension is to return to your Oversoul star and live by its great Light, which fills you with greater life and vitality. Stop sagging into self where life always seems to go wrong for you.
The River of Life doesn’t flow in two directions but in one smooth stream from the Source, throughout the universe and back again; otherwise it would create intolerable conflict, inner and outer. Conflict creates friction, and friction creates heat. Inner conflict in man, whether emotional or mental, creates heat, too, and congestion in the body’s cells that we call the “fever of self.” The seven vital centers in your molecular desire body are a cooling system; they work like electric fans to keep your organs cool. How do you turn your cooling system on? Look into the Light until you absolutely know its radiant warmth is bathing you head to toe. That’s right, healing requires the heat of your desire and will melding all your conflicting desires to become one with with God’s desire and will for you. Let this warmth draw the friction-tension from you.
Now rotate your hands (left hand above the right, always clockwise), over your head. If you find doing this rotary motion too difficult to begin with, imagine that you are standing behind your seated body: This will make you aware of the difference between your soul, which is making the rotary motions, and your body, which is receiving the treatment. Think up, higher and higher into the Light until the Light consolidates the physical cellular heat, instantaneously replacing it with super-cooled life sparks of soul. Healing thus operates like a heat sink/heat exchange cooling system. Be sure to rotate your hands over your head first, and as you end the treatment, to gently coax the 1,000-petaled crown lotus of the atomic fire body into great vitality and stability.
To relax, stretch this way first: Stand straight, shoulders back, and plant your hands on your hips (right hand on right hip and left on left). Hold your abdomen in and your elbows away from your torso as if they are the cross-bar on a cross. Now stretch straight up as high as you can and breathe deeply three times while you remain stretched. Next, imagine that your body is loosely jointed like that of a rag doll. Stretch out your arms, clench your hands tightly into fists, tense all your muscles to prepare them to draw in greater life. Then release the tension from all your muscles, not to relax, but to inhale the breath of life. Next, drop your head and upper torso forward from the waist to exhale. Drop your arms as though they weigh a ton, let your head and arms sag as though you are a rag doll; do this three times.
Then make a five-pointed star of your body, feet apart, arms extended straight out from your shoulders. Breathe deeply, and imagine seeing Light flowing through your body in a figure-eight pattern from above your head, crossing at your waist, down to your feet and up again to your waist, crossing over and up to your crown (8). To enliven your mental clarity you can also draw a horizontal figure-eight (∞) from the center of your forehead (extending to just above your eyebrows) to the left, then right, ending where you began. When you breathe deeply from the mystic eye at the center of your forehead, a flash of Light shines out and up like a pair of wings, visible to soul vision. You have three eyes; two physical eyes to view the world of appearances, and one, the mystical third eye of God, to see the truth behind the appearance. If you find this exercise makes you dizzy, or too difficult to do while standing, sit in a straight-backed chair to breathe deeply, then bend over, resting your elbows on your knees, to exhale fully.
According to the principles of Light, number, color, tone, and named form, we teach how to open the spiritual faculties such as intuition and illumination, and the need for soul to conquer self. In order to make good decisions, you have to apply all these principles in your daily life, including logic, reason, discretion, discrimination, and discernment. Otherwise, how can you discern the difference between a subconscious hunch and super-conscious intuition? Your rational soul uses conscious mind to manage the impulsive appetitive soul’s desires and to control subconscious urges.
The seat of hunches is the solar plexus at the pit of your stomach. Hunches belong to the realm of premonitions, usually as a foreboding or forewarning; pay attention to them but do not fear them or live by them. Put every hunch or intuition (real or imagined) on a cloud of Light, and declare that everyone and everything involved is divinely protected by God’s Light. What is the difference between a premonition and intuition?
Premonitions are not the same as intuitive soul-knowing but are hard to tell apart. A premonition results from drawing conclusions taken from subconscious memory, which extends beyond the limit of this life into all past life experiences. Since they can’t account for it from any experience consciously remembered, so jump to the conclusion that it must be intuition or God-inspired. Intuition is soul-knowing, and so profoundly real that you have no doubt about it.
You apply five great principles to aid in “healing” work—attraction, expansion, suction, contraction, and repulsion. When you live by love, you become a magnet of attraction. Learning, studying new topics and mental stimulation keeps you expanded beyond self-interest. Your vital centers operate on the principle of suction, magnetically drawing to you what you need unless you become apathetic. When you reach out with arms of Light, you can easily retract negative emotions, thoughts and the effect of idle words, and contract them into Light for lifting. Under repulsion, rays of Light emanate from your vital centers as cogs of Light that mesh to form the gears of a protective sheathe.
Six Laws of Comprehension form a pure philosophy of life to aid you in your soul conquering of the little self:
1. “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”–Matthew 6:33
2. “Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him.”–Matthew 5:25
3. “Abstain from all appearance of evil.”–1 Thessalonians 5:22
4. “What is that to thee? Follow thou me.”–John 21:22
5. “I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.”–John 12:32
6. This is good. Let there be Light.–Genesis 1
These laws, when obeyed, enable the complete conquering of self.
Seven-Branched Candelabrum
First Church of Revelation
Edna Lister, October 3, 1961, Cleveland, OH
The seven desire body vital centers correspond to the seven churches mentioned in The Revelation of Jesus the Christ. The seven churches and the vital centers are named after Seven Cities of God in the Heavenly Realms, called the Seven Cities of Melchizedek, which are the assembly places of the ascending Elect. The Sun, Moon, and five planets—Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and the Sun—represent the Seven Promises of Melchizedek. These heavnly bodies represent the “seven Lights before the Throne,” from which God took the Light at the Fall of Man 25,000 years ago. The celestial lights were then called Dionysus (Mercury) Vulcan, Terrah, Ceres, Pluto, Neptune and Uranus.
The seven churches represent physical nerve plexus centers, and seven vital centers in the desire body. The body is your own Paradise in which you dwell now. The seven churches and promises of Revelation emphasize the need for caring for your physical temple and equipment. It is the absolute truth that for anyone who has a flaming desire for a perfect physically efficient body, the power of the body is such that cells can divide themselves, increase and fill a void. All seven churches combined represent the Path of Ascension.

The Christ Light walks through the seven vital centers. Seven lampstands refer to the seven altars of Melchizedek. They symbolize the seven stages of our planet: Saturn, Moon, Earth, Venus, Jupiter, Vulcan and Light in the seven centers. “Seven stars” release rays of pure white Christ Light that radiate through seven altars in the Rainbow Circle to be separated into color. The seven stars represent seven phases of the higher creative center plus the plexus and vital centers they rule.

First Church of Revelation: Ephesus, the City of Desire

The ruins of Ephesus, the most important Greek city in Ionian Asia Minor, lie in western Turkey. The Temple of Artemis, or Diana, to which Ephesus owed much of its fame and which seems to mark the site of the classical Greek city, was probably on the seaboard when it was founded (about 600 BC), one mile east by northeast of Pion. In Roman times a sea channel was maintained with difficulty to a harbor well west of Pion. By late Byzantine times this channel had become useless, and the coast by the mid-20th Century was three miles farther west. Ephesus commanded the west end of one great trade route into Asia.–Easton’s Bible Dictionary.
“Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks. I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted. Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitanes, which I also hate. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.”–Revelation 2:1-7.
Ephesus governs the sign of Aries, and covers the Neophyte Degree. Ephesus means “desirable” and we call it the City of Desire. It symbolizes desire, the central building faculty in consciousness, and represents illumination for the Elect.
Ephesus is the church of the rod of power, the spinal column and sacrum vital center. Your spine is a rod of power, and the pineal body is the flame on the upper tip of this rod. We call this rod of power the “Pole of Paracelsus” (Paracelsus was a 15th Century Swiss alchemist, the father of modern chemistry). A major nerve ganglia at the base of the spine, the sacrum plexus is the lower tip of the rod of power, the center that holds the creative fire necessary for all our works on earth. Crystallization in the sacral nerves produces poor health and depression, which dissipate energy unless you melt, dissolve, and absorb it with Light. As Light strikes the crystallization, it brings up all negative emotions, fears and doubts for lifting and cleansing.
The spine is your golden candlestick, and attached to it are thirty-two pairs of nerves that feed the entire body. Illumination descends through the “door” of Oversoul to the pineal body. If the candlestick goes out, the Light goes out. Its illumination is gone and the spine is weak. All it takes is one sharp word. A mere shrug of your shoulders can remove your candlestick. The sacrum plexus is the first vital center, and courtesy and consideration can arouse it. Consideration and courtesy are two worldly virtues that epitomize the Christ-like virtues, and with them alone one can become Christed.
The “first love” is the higher creative center in the brain. God rebukes the soul for falling from a high state of consciousness. The first lifting of the creative fire is mating self-centered will and desire in a marriage of the Lamb to become balanced as poise and power, whose offspring are peace and patience. This marriage of the Lamb is moving the consciousness into the I AM center through initiations.
Ephesus was the site of a great temple of Diana, a center of learning and commerce. It erred when it gave in to idolatry and heavy materialism. “From where you have fallen” refers to descending from the higher creative center in the Garden of Eden to Egypt, which contains the lower three vital centers. Removing the candlestick is losing the Light, the price you pay for descending in consciousness.
The Nicolaitans were Hebrew followers of Belial and Baalim (false gods, literally “lords of earth”), representing mixed thoughts, good, bad and indifferent. They taught others to eat the meat of sacrificial animals and to worship animals, both sins against Mosaic Law. Melchizedek’s first promise, “to eat from the Tree of Life” represents to receive full illumination and glory. The Tree of Life is the spinal column, the foundation of life at every level. You eat of the Tree of Life when the creative fire ascends the spine.
Second Church of Revelation: Smyrna, the City of the Creative Fire
Edna Lister, October 10, 1961, Cleveland, OH
Izmir, historically called Smyrna, is in western Turkey. The nation’s third largest city and one of its largest ports, it lies at the head of the sheltered Gulf of Izmir on the deeply indented coast of the Aegean Sea. Izmir is one of the oldest cities of the Mediterranean world and has been of almost continuous historical importance during the last 5,000 years. Smyrna emerged as one of the principal cities of Asia Minor and was later the center of a civil diocese in the Roman province of Asia, vying with Ephesus and Pergamum for the title “first city of Asia.” Smyrna was an early seat of Christianity.–Easton’s Bible Dictionary.
“And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive; I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan. Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.”–Revelation 2:8-11.
Smyrna governs Taurus and the Disciple Degree. The meaning of Smyrna is myrrh, the richest of spices, whose name meant “flowing sweetness,” but also bitterness and rebellion. Smyrna also means “fertility or “growth,” and is the city of the creative fire. It rules the splenic vital center, the site of physical misuse of the creative fire in idle words. There is always a possibility of backfire at this center through negative thoughts or retorts. Self depletes the creative fire being lifted and reacts in the physical body immediately. “Jews” refers to purity of thought, but these people had evil thoughts.
Imprisonment refers to initiations and lesser testings, which spiritualize us. Ten days of tribulation refers to edicts issued by ten Roman emperors who persecuted Christians. Ten is the number of spiritual expression. We reveal these names to lift the force and spiritual debt of their persecutions: Nero, Domitian, Trajan, Hadrian, Marcus Aurelius, Septimus Severus, Maximinus, Decius, Valerian and Diocletian, who authorized the last persecution.
“Faithful until death” means unto the destruction of evil. The “crown of life” is spiritual illumination and symbolizes receiving y true place in the heavenly realms. “He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death” is Melchizedek’s second promise. The first death is denying or forgetting God, loss of soul substance through riotous or negative living, the rational soul subjected to subsoul. The second death is loss of identity, annihilation of soul substance number and name from the Book of Life.
Third Church of Revelation: Pergamos, the City of Freedom
Edna Lister, October 17, 1961, Cleveland, OH
“Pergamos the chief city of Mysia, in Asia Minor. It was noted for its wickedness, insomuch that our Lord says “Satan’s seat” was there. The church of Pergamos was rebuked for swerving from the truth and embracing the doctrines of Balaam and the Nicolaitanes. Antipas, Christ’s “faithful martyr,” here sealed his testimony with his blood. This city stood on the banks of the river Caicus, about 20 miles from the sea. It is now called Bergama, and has a population of some 20,000, of whom about 2,000 profess to be Christians. Parchment was first made here, and was called by the Greeks pergamene, from the name of the city.”–Easton’s Bible Dictionary.
“And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges; I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth. But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication. So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate. Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.”–Revelation 2:12-17
Pergamos was very earthly and strongly united as a city. Its name derives from “pergamum” or “intelligence.” The “sharp two-edged sword” is the divine truth that separates illusion from reality and truth from fiction. A sharp sword with two edges is a perfect description of the effect of the naval vital center, “where Satan’s throne is.” Satan’s throne is the seat of intellect, the adverse consciousness, not intelligence. Pergamos represents the epigastric plexus at the navel vital center, the “seat of Satan.” It is a strong citadel of self-will, head of the land of Egypt in the physical body. Antipas represents faithfulness to truth, to the point of standing up regardless of personal consequences.
This church governs Gemini and the Adept Degree. Those who place their hands on their knees or in their laps to meditate focus their consciousness in the lower centers and cut off the etheric currents, the white Light of the Christ. They work on the magnetic currents of earth alone. Focusing on the navel center permits you to work only from the brain’s frontal lobes, which are divorced from the Mind of God. This is self-mind reasoning and rationalizing that drags you down in consciousness.
Idols represent false beliefs against or about God. Sacrificing to idols means giving of our soul substance to sustain false beliefs. Balak was a king of Moab and an enemy of Israel (Numbers 22:24) who invoked a curse of Baalim (literally “lords of earth”) upon them. The Nicolaitans were followers of Baalim who ate the meat of sacrificial animals and worshiped idols.
The sword is love and wisdom combined to produce the Word, the Son of all Power. It is a sword of selflessness. Speaking truth sets law in action against the Nicolaitans and all that they represent. “Hidden manna” is Melchizedek’s third promise. It is inner spiritual substance that descends from heaven, the Wwisdom, love and Light of Christ gained through prayer, praise, devotion and love. The essence of physical life is fed by looking upward on a deep breath. Manna feeds the desire, mental and spiritual bodies. The “white stone” is faith, which opens the pineal body and pituitary gland, letting the milk and honey flow. This is the first Christing or marriage of the Lamb. The “white stone,” which contains the hidden inner name you receive for conquering, is a reward of high order. The “new name” also means changing to a higher order of ideals and ideas. To stand faithful to truth, to stand up for ideals is to gain Paradise.
Fourth Church of Revelation: Thyatira, the City of Zeal
Edna Lister, October 17, 1961, Cleveland, OH
“A city of Asia Minor, on the borders of Lydia and Mysia. Its modern name is Ak-hissar, i.e., ‘white castle.’ Here was one of the seven churches (Revelation 2:18-28). Lydia, the seller of purple, or rather of cloth dyed with this colour, was from this city (Acts 16:14). It was and still is famous for its dyeing. Among the ruins, inscriptions have been found relating to the guild of dyers in that city in ancient times.”–Easton’s Bible Dictionary.
“And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass; I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first. Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works. But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden. But that which ye have already hold fast till I come. And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. And I will give him the morning star. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.”–Revelation 2:18-29.
Thyatira was a city of Asia Minor. It represents the signs of Cancer, Leo and Virgo and the Mystic Degree. Thyatira represents the cardiac plexus and the heart vital center. Zeal and burning desire raise the rate of vibration to the balance point of equilibrium between the lower and higher creative centers. Lower consciousness is the land of Egypt, higher consciousness is the Garden of Eden. The heart center is in the Promised Land, where you learn balance and equilibrium.
“Jezebel” refers to negativity and taints in consciousness. Jezebel also represents waste, misuse and diffusion of the creative fire on the horizontal level. Universal love begins manifesting when you lift the creative fire. Many saints and spiritual people stop at developing the heart center. You may lack common sense here, which betrays all prior lifting. The tendency is to stagnate by evangelizing. You may pull and lift others up, but don’t try to push them into the kingdom of heaven!
“Power over the nations” is Melchizedek’s fourth promise, which refers to the reign of the Elect and a thousand years of peace. The nations are ten physical organs. To rule with a rod of iron is to have the strength of faith through conquering. Crystallization of the twelve glands and plexus centers is “dashed to pieces.” The “morning star” refers to the Power and Light you receive from the Oversoul Star, the joy of a new beginning in thought, praise and song. You fulfill the promise of the morning star when you praise from the heart.
Fifth Church of Revelation: Sardis, the City of Joy
Edna Lister, October 24, 1961, Cleveland, OH
Sardis, the ruined capital of ancient Lydia, near present Izmir, Turkey. Strategically located on a spur at the foot of Mount Tmolus (Boz Dag), it commanded the central plain of the Hermus Valley and was the western terminus of the Persian royal road. Sardis was the capital of the flourishing Lydian kingdom of the 7th century BC and was the first city where gold and silver coins were minted. From about 560 to about 546 Sardis was ruled by Croesus, who was renowned for his great wealth and was the last king of Lydia. Under the Roman Empire, it was the metropolitan capital and center of judicial administration of the Roman province of Lydia. Destroyed by an earthquake in AD 17, the city was rebuilt and remained one of the great cities of Anatolia until the Byzantine period. It was obliterated in 1402 by the Mongol Timur (Tamerlane).–Easton’s Bible Dictionary.
“And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead. Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God. Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy. He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.”–Revelation 3:1-6.
Sardis means “prince” or a member of a royal or ruling family. Sardis represents the throat center, the great “I-me-my” center in man, where you cross out self and tie our earth to our Heaven. Self shows as idle words and the tones of voice. The silver cord often gets stuck on the vertebra opposite the throat center and delays its final burning away. The test is for false humility, which wipes out any chance for ascension. “I” is not yet found perfect. Your works are not yet perfect here. “Seven Spirits of God” are seven Lords of Creation, always present before the Throne of God, who are messengers and servants. This also represents seven vital centers receiving the full Light of the Living Christ.
Sardis represents the signs of Libra and Scorpio and covers the Master Degree of responsibility for lifting all. To “repent” means to change your way of thinking, to think up instead of out on the horizontal level. Initiations come anytime, as a thief. If you are not prepared or high enough in consciousness, the Father cuts off the Power. Watch your white garment; be conscious of where you sit to keep it clean. Negative thoughts spot your robes. If you clothe yourself in infinite love and Light, your garments are undefiled. The Wwhite Light of the Christ illumines all centers, goes forth on your spoken word, and is Christ walking with you.
Melchizedek’s fifth promise is “white garments,” which refers to initiatory robes worn in the heavenly realms. This conquering requires that you ascend and do not face the second death. The justification of Spirit is having our name confessed before the Father and Inner Councils. Jesus the Christ sponsors you before the Thrones of Heaven, holds open the Gates of Light and helps you to overcome.
I AM is the new name you receive, but it sinks in vibration when you use “I” for the little self. This leads to unawareness and being dead to truth. When Oversoul I AM seeks to tell you that you are off the path, strengthen it, don’t let the vibration sink lower. Ascend! We create our own temptations when you sink to a low ebb in consciousness. Here you may learn greatly from our weaknesses and ascend to conquer. A few live by I AM consciousness and are found worthy when they endeavor to hold fast.
Sixth Church of Revelation: Philadelphia, the City of Love
Edna Lister, October 31, 1961, Cleveland, OH
Philadelphia, “the city of him who loves his brother”, is today known as Alaşehir, a town in the Aegean region of Turkey. Philadelphia was a highly important center in the Early Christian and Byzantine periods. It remained a strong center of Orthodox Christianity until the early 20th Century. Philadelphia was located about 30 miles southeast of Sardis and 50 miles northwest of Laodicea.–Collier’s New Encyclopedia
“And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth; I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name. Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee. Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown. Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.”–Revelation 3:7-13
Philadelphia is the city of “brotherly love,” the church of the brow vital center, ruled by the feminine pituitary gland and the sign of Sagittarius. This relates to the faculty of love and governs the Priest Degree. The “key of David” refers to awakening the pituitary gland with the key of Love, opening the Door to I AM. No man may shut this door. Jesus opened his reign of love and law with the key of David. The Father opens the door for you as you arise in surrender. Lift all that you see, know, and contact for the Father to release Light to cleanse it. You must ascend! Build a larger mold, a more perfect image each day to shatter old crystallization and bonds. Jesus the Christ opens wide the gates for you to ascend. “I know thy works” refers to opening your vital centers with Light. You must mate dDesire with will to do this.
At this point in conquering, Light shines through the “third eye” in the forehead, through the brow center, and the soul expresses. “When the student is ready, the Master appears.” The triangle of the brow is the seat of Will, and this center is not free until Desire ascends to mate with Will. To “deny the name” is not living in the full Light, which is the temptation of Sardis.
The “synagogue of Satan” are metaphysical “pretenders” to I AM, those who just think about and talk about conquering. My job is to make me good and the other fellow happy. To live in the Light and ascend in consciousness is keeping the command to persevere, a sacrifice of self that lifts you above temptations and initiations. Stand and hold fast to conquered gains so that no outer experience robs the Light moving through to set afire your crown center.
“He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the Temple of my God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of Heaven from my God. And I will write on him my new name. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”
Melchizedek’s sixth promise is to be made a “pillar in the temple” and “go out no more,” which means that you finally return to your true place in the heavenly realms. The “name of my God” and “New Jerusalem” refers to the Elect ruling the outer New Jerusalem. You gain this with the key of David, the key of Love. David was king of all Israel, as love rules all. Only I can open my door to love, no man can open or close this door from the outside. You let the Master enter, or you keep him out.
The “new name” is a crowning on the inner and outer for becoming one with the Father and completing your initiations. The “name of my God” is a joy vibration that gives us a shining, radiant appearance. The Garden of Eden is now New Jerusalem. The Light from your brow shines forth. Hold fast! Let no man take your crown of Light!
Seventh Church of Revelation: Laodicea, the City of Justice
Edna Lister, October 31, 1961, Cleveland, OH
Laodicea (Latakiya, near modern Denizli, Turkey), in ancient geography, so called after Laodice, Queen of Antiochus Theos, its founder. It was destroyed by an earthquake during the reign of Tiberius, but rebuilt by the inhabitants, who were very wealthy. A severe rebuke is addressed to its inhabitants in the Apocalypse. It fell into the hands of the Turks in 1255, was again destroyed in 1402, and is now a heap of ruins, known by the name of Eski-Hissar. Art and science flourished among the ancient Laodiceans, and it was the seat of a famous medical school. An important ecclesiastical council, the First Council of Laodicea, was held here in 363, which adopted resolutions concerning the canon of the Old and New Testaments and referring to ecclesiastical discipline.–Collier’s New Encyclopedia.
“And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.”–Revelation 3:14-22.
Laodicea means “seat of judgment,” the faculty of judgment of, by and for people on the material level, and has to do with maintaining balance. Judgment can be neither hot nor cold, only balanced impersonally. Laodicea is today’s church, the church of the “end of the Age.” This is the seat of the crown center, ruled by the masculine pineal body that secretes the milk of illumination. This church covers the signs of Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces and the Christos Degree. “The Beginning of the Creation of God” refers to the Logos, the First Begotten Son of God, from whom all creator gods stepped forth and descended. “Amen” is a name of God and the name of a ruler of Egypt, known as “the Faithful and True.”
To “spew you out of my mouth” refers to your assimilation of law, conquering and ascension. Light does not move through when you lower your rate of vibration or fail to ascend in the face of outer challenges. Here you may base your decisions on what seems to be sound intellectual reasoning, on what you believe you deserve. This is the place of choice between self-satisfaction and soul-satisfaction. Soul-satisfaction always leaves burning desire in its place, but self-satisfaction leaves only more wants and lacks.
When you begin to ascend, God extends a line of Light-as-Substance to you so you can ascend still higher. Many often mistake this “loan” of Light on credit as the reward for their small efforts, but this is a gift. You are rich and wealthy with Light only while you continue to ascend.
The “gold refined in the fire” represents the pineal body “honey” secretions, sent forth unadulterated by self, to fuse with the pituitary gland “milk” to open full seeing and hearing. A “white garment” is the white Light of the Christ illumination moving through the pineal, which comes with purity of heart, mind and purpose. “Eye salve” refers to the balm of compassion being applied to vision so that you may view the world with kindness and compassion.
You chasten yourself, step by step, as you ascend in consciousness. This is being zealous and repentant of self. God should have no need to chasten us. To be open to the white Light of the Christ is to have the glory and Poyour of God moving through at all times. This is supping with the Master. Melchizedek’s seventh promise is to sit enthroned with our Father in Heaven.
Home Held as Springboard for Peace
Edna Lister, a Buffalo Evening News article, November 1, 1961, Buffalo, NY
Women must begin the crusade for world peace in the home, a meeting of the Western New York Chapter of the Women’s Prayer Crusade for World Order and Peace was told yesterday afternoon at the YWCA in Franklin St. The speaker was Dr. Edna Lister of Seattle, head of the Society of the Healing Christ, who is on a speaking tour of Eastern cities.
Inner Conflict
“Inner conflict is the cause of war,” Dr. Lister said, “and it is up to us to sign a covenant with God.” In a world where men are too busy, she said, women must do the work of God and must speak out for peace without a fear of ridicule. Dr. Lister said that a lukewarm approach to faith and lack of love in the world can encourage evil to exist. She urged her listeners to become “barrier breakers” through prayer.
Committees Urged
Dr. Lister suggested that women inaugurate facts committees, either in their groups or committees. Such committees, directed by civic leaders, would serve to refute Communist propaganda. A member of the National League of Pen Women, Dr. Lister is a former President of the International New Thought Alliance.
