Inevitable Inexorable Change

Linda Mihalic, Palm Sunday, March 28, 2010, Cleveland, Ohio, Luke 9:28-36, John 12:12-33

“And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray. And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering. And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias: Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem. But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him. And it came to pass, as they departed from him, Peter said unto Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias: not knowing what he said. While he thus spake, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them: and they feared as they entered into the cloud. And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him. And when the voice was past, Jesus was found alone. And they kept it close, and told no man in those days any of those things which they had seen.”– Luke 9:28-36
“On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord. And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written, Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass's colt. These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him. The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record. For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle. The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him. And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast: The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus. And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour. Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour. Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again. The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him. Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes. Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. This he said, signifying what death he should die.”–John 12:12-33

Change occurs on a continuum of experience. A continuum is “a continuous whole whose parts cannot be separated or separately discerned.” The specific continuum here is the Seven Degrees of Initiation—Neophyte, Disciple, Adept, Mystic, Master, Priest and Christos—which encompass our existence and experience on earth. All other principles, laws, degrees, tests and initiations arrange themselves neatly within this continuum’s seven broadly defined areas.
Like a Mobius strip, a torus or doughnut with a half-twist, the Seven Degrees continuum forms the Via Christa, the Way of Christ that we follow to ascend home to God. Every soul embodied on this planet walks this path, whether conscious or unconscious of doing so.
You are always working on all degrees at once, Edna Lister said. Since the degrees spread themselves into a universal continuum, it’s nearly impossible to discern where one degree ends and another begins. All souls are destined to ascend eventually.
We make many broad general statements about the degrees; for instance, “The Neophyte Degree governs the physical laws of diet, breathing, water, rest, exercise and relaxation.” However, every other degree has a Neophyte sub-degree, so relegating the physical laws to the Neophyte Degree is wrong and foolish. The Scriptures used above apply to a sector of the continuum between the initiations of the Transfiguration and the Crucifixion. We begin with the act of the Transfiguration and end with the Exaltation on Palm Sunday, which immediately precedes the Crucifixion and the Resurrection.
Jesus came to earth to obey law, become the Christ, and to show us how to do it while proving that we can do it. Jesus was ready to climb Mount Tabor for the Transfiguration. His life serves as a template, a visible pattern for initiation. Reading about his life gives us a Cliff Notes view of initiation, formal and informal.
Change is inevitable and inexorable. No one can resist it or stop its progression. People say, “The sun always rises,” implying that our sunrise is unvarying and eternal, which is untrue. No sunrise is exactly like another, and eventually our sun will become a red giant star, killing life as we know it and changing the nature of the solar system.
It does not matter that many people believe that they live only once. The soul is eternal, as is our Source. God, as The One Light, is all that is, appearing as Mind, Substance and Power. Substance, such as the body, serves as a vehicle, a carrier wave for God’s Mind apportioned as the many living souls.
All physical structures change—your body, our planet, our solar system, our galaxy or the universe. As a soul, you are a part of God, expressing and experiencing life, conscious in the gegree you occupy. All souls are conscious in varying degrees. You see evidence of this everywhere, but may not comprehend what you see.
The urges of eating, mating and sleeping motivate those closest to the creature level of consciousness. What others think, and how their social peers may approve them, motivates many. You must climb a long way before you find yoursell in the company of those who are most concerned with what God thinks.
Cradle to grave welfare, the nanny state, sounds ideal to those in or near the creature phase of the human spectrum. It leaves them free to sleep, eat and mate without a care. The power controllers and manipulators of finance, corporations, the government and religion, who live among the sons and daughters of man, will tell those they consider to be below them whatever will cause them to obey. Many sons and daughters of God are altruistic, willing to help those who cannot help themselves. Sympathy passes among them as compassion, but these terms are not synonymous. Compassion is founded on love and wisdom, on logic and mercy. Sympathy is founded on guilt and pity, without logic.
Fully devoted sons and daughters of God are the true Elect, rarest on earth. They take their responsibilities seriously and hold themselves accountable. They forgive their debtors and offenders seventy times seven, but draw the line at being forever cast in the role of whipping boy or scapegoat to fool the innocent. They will speak truth to power. Not all those who view themselves as Elect are, in fact.
Ten years ago, the great cycle of the cosmic year—approximately 225 million Earth years, the time it takes for our solar system to orbit the galactic core—brought us to what we call the Valley of Decision. All the living souls who inhabit earth have been brought before the Lord, and commanded to choose whom we will serve.
Those who walk the Via Christa consciously recognize this choice as one we must make daily. We voice our responsibility, saying, “Today I must choose whom I shall serve, self or God.” We each have our role to play in the ascension drama. Mine is to serve as the watchman in a tower, as described in Ezekiel 33. When I see that the Lord is about to bring the sword upon the land, I must warn the people that it is coming. Bringing the sword upon the land is a metaphor for what happens when the human race ignores the past due notices on our collective bill of spiritual debt, our karma.
God has already sent His Messiah and many teachers and leaders to religious and ethnic phases in the human spectrum. God has covered the continuum with a full spectrum of solutions. Humanity has ignored the solutions, collectively. They have ignored the judgments brought against them in the Valley of Decision.
The human race today (June 7, 2024) totals 8.1+ billion; 98 percent of those souls in bodies occupy the first three of the Seven Degrees—Neophytes, Disciples and Adepts. That leaves hundreds of millions to fill the other four degrees, the Mystics, Masters, Priests and Christos candidates. Anthropologists cite Dunbar’s number, claiming that the average person can maintain 150 socially stable relationships. If the Elect set goals for lifting the lazy and barely conscious souls we could see miracles!
Transfiguration is the initiation of the Mystic. To pass this initiation, you must step into an abyss, into the unknown, willingly, and walk blindly in faith, believing that you will reach the other side. You may not see a physical abyss like the Grand Canyon. Perhaps you must pass through trying times alone, without support or friendly aid. Something devastating might happen that stresses your faith. What will you choose to do when you reach the breaking point? The Neophytes, Disciples and Adepts will search horizontally for someone stronger than they are to counsel them and tell them what to do. They beg God for help but rarely listen for His answer, saying, “I’ve prayed, but nothing happens!” Many Adepts are too stubborn to ask, cursing God instead. Some become so bitterly hate-filled that they say to evil, “Be thou my good,” and enter a sector of the continuum devoted to evil and darkness. They submit to the “ruler of this world” instead of to God.
Yet most of the Elect are now in the abyss to becoming fully conscious and responsible Masters, Priests and Christos candidates for initiation. The rest of the world is about to join us. As blind as you may feel as you walk through the emptiness of the abyss, you still have an idea of where you are and your goal. It’s about to become crowded in there. Push yourself into overdrive on faith and act as if you know what you are doing or you really will be just the blind leading the blind. All those younger souls easily sense that you know more than they do about this abyss. They will follow and lean on your faith whether you want them to or not. They will greet us with “Hosanna! Blessed are they who come in the name of the Lord!”
Several options are open to you. You can fall back in the role of a crabby Adept, saying, “Don’t look at me! I’ve got enough to worry about on my own! Find someone else to help you.” You can choose higher, better responses to aid and comfort those less fortunate in knowing the Lord. The Mystic says, “I’ll pray for you, without ceasing,” then does so. The Master will point the way to greater mental clarity and emotional comfort, then pray. The Priest may personally minister to those in need, giving selflessly with great and growing compassion, then pray. The Christos will simply know the truth so perfectly and completely that miracles abound in his or her wake, gladdening hearts everywhere, then will pray in full faith believing.
Your Transfiguration is well under way. You’ve come too far to dream of turning back. In fact, you may be nearly to the other side and not know it until you step into the new Light awaiting you. The Crucifixion lies ahead, yes. Yet the Transfiguration so strengthens you that you will be ready, as Jesus was, to say, “Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour? For this purpose I came to this hour. Father, glorify Your name.”–John 12:27-28
Who knows, you may hear a voice from heaven, saying, “I have both glorified it and will glorify it again.” Those who stand near you may hear it, say that it thundered or that an angel spoke to you. You will inspire those with a lesser faith. You were born in this time, in this place to meet and face this very hour of need. You are the best God has. As Edna Lister said, “God calls His best beloved to stand in trying places because there are trying places where someone must stand, and the careless and indifferent are not great enough for such service.”
God is judging the world from the Throne of Righteousness and the Mercy Seat, and the ruler of this world is being cast out again. Half of evil’s legions are entrenched in the hierarchies of religion and politics. We have watched evil and moral relativism become institutionalized. Our destiny is to be God’s absolute good and to drive wedges of Light into the bastions of intellectualism, agnosticism and secular humanism.
Our Master gave us the law of “I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to myself.” It’s our turn now. We ascend and continue to ascend without pause. The magnetism of our joy in our Master’s delight in us will irresistibly attract all those on our lines of light and they will draw others to the in turn. We are now leading the whole world home to God in the face of this inevitable inexorable change. Let there be Light!

The Fire of Desire

Linda Mihalic, Pentecost, May 23, 2010, Cleveland, Ohio, Psalm 104:4, Luke 12:42-51, Matthew 13:40-42, The Wisdom of Ben Sirach 2:4-5

“Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire”–Psalm 104:4.
“And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath. But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; the lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers. And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more. I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled? But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished! Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division.”–Luke 12:42-51
“As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; and shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.”– Matthew 13:40-42
“Whatever is brought upon you, take cheerfully, and be patient when you are changed to a low estate; for gold is tried in the fire, and acceptable souls in the furnace of adversity.”–The Wisdom of Ben Sirach 2:4-5

“Love is a flame and a fire that burn ever,” wrote Edna Lister. Poets have always used fire as a symbol or metaphor of love and desire. The world defines fire as “the evolution of light and heat in the combustion of bodies; the state of ignition.” A flame is the form that fire takes as gases combust in an ascending stream or current.
Many people fear fire because uncontrolled fire is inimical to life as we know it. Yet fire is also extremely valuable since nothing compares to a hot flame for reducing the worn out, no longer useful things of this world to ash, which may then enrich the soil. Fire is a visible energy conversion. You take a solid, such as dry wood, add some kindling, and ignite it using some sort of lighter.
The ancients believed that everything is composed of four elements, fire, air, earth, and water. They also believed in a fifth classical element, known by various names: Aether, idea, quintessence, or hieron (Greek, a divine thing). Plato called aether Idea, and from his thinking we came to regard it as that ineffable “something” that exists outside the material world (our knowing, thought processes, problem solving, etc.).
The ancients also called aether the quintessence (from quinta essentia, the fifth element). The quintessence was heavenly, i.e., not of physical matter, believed to have the power of life. Its corresponding Platonic solid was the dodecahedron, a 12-sided figure.
The life spark is the essence of our soul substance; each fiery spark ensheaths an ethereal photon or unit of spiritual Light. Many life sparks mass to form an atom; larger Each grouping becomes denser or heavier as it descends closer to physical form. Edna Lister taught that each cell incorporated thirteen levels of substance. At the heart of each level is the quintessential fiery Light. We speak of raising our rate of vibration, and of climbing or ascending toward the Source of All Light. We also speak of sloughing off an oily substance that coats our life sparks.
Love ignites the soul, fires it into ascension action. The fuel for love’s fire is that oily coating on the life sparks, created by the self, the ego, the individualized creature soul consciousness, that part of us that evolved up through the mineral, vegetable and animal kingdoms to human form. That oily substance is thick and sticky, and it causes the life sparks to adhere to one another in clumps of life essence. We have red and white blood cells, plus a sticky essence in our bloodstream, called platelets, which cause our blood to clot. The platelets carry the memories associated our life while we are in a body, and we recycle them once a month. We call this creature soul rotation.
When we ignite the fire of desire to ascend, to go home to God, the heat softens the oily coating on our life sparks, until it melts from them and becomes the fuel for a hotter fire. At this point, we begin to burn our own tares of self. The burning of self tares liberates the energy of the soul. This eventually becomes a self-perpetuating positive feedback loop, a self-sustaining system that continues as long as we feed it the fuel of self husks. We, who consciously know why we are doing this, open the way for every soul on earth who is desirous of returning to God. Our desire and passage upward into the Light paves and illumines the path for those who follow us in ascension. We each attract all those who vibrate in harmony with our frequency in the universal bandwidth.
We need not worry about becoming a flame of fire—God already made us that way—we contain the fire within us. Our task is to liberate it from its bondage to self in form. When we focus our will to lift desire soul-ward and upward, we put on the robes of earthly emissaries of the Divine, lighting the way for others.
As the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age. The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.–Matthew 13:40-42
Your Guards will help you to gather all the tares of self, the “things that offend” and “practice lawlessness.” We must consciously make a series of burnt offerings of the detritus of self, to lift it forever into the Light.
We are slated to become “faithful and wise stewards,” whom our Master will make rulers over all that he has. Right now we are in the preliminary stage, witnessing hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people who are saying in their hearts, “My Master is delaying his coming.”
Slavery has exploded globally. Violence against women and children is a commonplace epidemic. Sociologically, all this is evidence of cultures in decay worldwide. Something’s got to give. We are reaching a tipping point.
The Master will come on a day when we are not looking for him, and at an hour when we are not aware. John Ruskin said that he could tell what a man was by the way he used his spare time. He was right, and the way we use the hours God as given us to serve Him is one standard of measurement He uses in judging us. This scripture tells us that several fates await those who stop believing that the Master will come: Some will be cut in two and given a portion with the unbelievers. Those who knew the Master's will, and did not prepare themselves or act according to his will, will be beaten with many stripes. Those who did not know the Master’s will, but acted in a way that deserves stripes, will be beaten with few.
The scripture from the book, “Wisdom of Ben Sirach,” tells us exactly what we ought to pay attention to in these times: Whatever is brought upon you, take cheerfully, and be patient when you are changed to a low estate; for gold is tried in the fire, and acceptable souls in the furnace of adversity.–Wisdom of Ben Sirach 2:4-5. This text was written nearly two hundred years before the Master came to earth, but it remains perfect advice to this day.
No matter what happens, we must take it cheerfully and continue to invoke Power to maintain the poise that gives us both peace of mind and the patience to withstand whatever life offers. We must pay attention and apply this advice, because our attitude is the only thing we can really control in life.
“For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more.”–Luke 12:48. God has given us so much, so many different gifts. Chief among them, He has given us a heart of divine fire that will consume our outer husks eventually. God has given every soul great gifts; He has excluded no one. The young souls, the children of earth, do not necessarily know God’s will and so will not be judged too harshly.

The Sons and Daughters of God, and those who descended to earth to serve as watchers and shepherds, did and do know God’s will from the beginning. Much was committed unto them and they are considered responsible ones. If they have discharged the obligations of responsibility well, God will reward them greatly.
If not, they will cut their credits in half. The many stripes, with which they will be figuratively beaten, are demerits that could consume all their soul credits, causing them to lose their places in the first and second life waves of ascending souls. Many people are doing this to themselves right now.
Never has it been so important that we pay attention to the subtle prompting of our Guards, who so often speak to us through the voice of our conscience. God has given us an immeasurable gift that we may clearly hear their heavenly advice. We can hear them, if we ask, then listen.
This passage from the Gospel of Luke is so powerful: I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled? But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished! Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division!–Luke 12:49-51. Our Lord told us that he had come to dissolve the bondage of matter, to “send fire on the earth” that would, in time, burn free of whatever contains it. It has taken 2,000 years in a world where the life-span has only slowly increased to about 80-some years, up from about thirty-five to fifty in this time.
The illusion of time is a powerful component in the glamor of the material world, the bondage to material form. We believe in time far more than we do in eternity. We believe in limitations more than we do infinity. We believe in bodies destined to fail in less than 100 years more than we do in eternal life. We believe in physical pleasure far more than we do in the joy of heavenly realms. Scripture calls this being stuck in the fleshpots of Egypt.
The Beloved came to dwell with us, to teach us the precepts of truth that would set us free, to ignite within us the fire of desire to return home and be one with him and with our Father. He came to earth to become the Christ, to show us the way, and to illumine the path that we also must walk in Christed stature and love.
Our task is to let the fire of desire so flame in us that we may easily burn the husks of self. This service is so critical. We are the very best that God has for this service. Many others may love God as much as we do, but no others have our training. Therefore, they cannot release the same degree and amount of Power as Light that we can.
We know how to speak the Word effectively in prayer. We have been taught how to lift the self in ourselves and in others. We have been schooled in how to reclaim and redeem misused and unwisely invested soul substance from the world. We have learned how to sack the darkness created by those of evil intentions on earth.
We really are the best God has got: Edna Lister said “Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the hand of God. That shall be to you better than Light and safer than the known way. God sends His best beloved to stand in trying places, for there are trying places where someone must stand, and the careless and the indifferent are unfit for such a service.”–October 3, 1950.
This is our service, to stand, knowing the truth, to ignite the flame of desire and to offer God all the husks of self we can find, ours and those of all others and the world. We are the best beloved. We heed, hearken, hear and obey the Voice of the Beloved as he calls us to Christed service for our Father. Let there be Light.

The Signs of the Times

Linda Mihalic, October 17, 2010, Cleveland, Ohio, Matthew 16:1-19, Philippians 2:5-11

“The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven. He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. And in the morning, It will be foul weather today: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed. And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread. Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread. Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread? Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up? Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up? How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees? Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”–Matthew 16:1-19
“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”–Philippians 2:5-11

The Pharisees and Sadducees, who often came to test Jesus, represent prejudice and opinion, our usual substitutes for honest thinking. The Pharisees were pious and devoted, while the Sadducees were the intellectual lawyers. Both groups believed they were more right than anyone else, and exalted themselves above the common people to whom they felt vastly superior.
From the first, Jesus “made himself of no reputation” by consorting with sinners and low class people; he dismayed even his biggest admirers. By choosing disciples from the uneducated class, he bothered some and offended others; why had he not come to them first? He had ignored them, so they wanted a sign from heaven that they should heed his message. This was the epitome of their arrogance.
When Jesus warned his disciples about the leaven of the Pharisees, they all went off into the mental bushes imagining that he was angry because they had brought no bread. Plainly irritated, he said: O you of little faith, why do you reason among yourselves because you have brought no bread? Do you not yet understand, or remember the five loaves of the five thousand and how many baskets you took up? Nor the seven loaves of the four thousand and how many large baskets you took up? How is it you do not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread?—but to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees. Only then did they “get it”—he was speaking of doctrine.
Doctrine is dogma, the set of beliefs that we grow up believing because our parents and society told us we should. Even when we reject the dogma, the old belief system sits there at the baseline of our consciousness, occupying the space that by rights belongs to truth. If we are lucky, we stumble over the old dogma and evict it, thus making room for truth. Jesus knocked the space-eating doctrine out of the way for truth to grow.
Jesus knew that the Sadducees and Pharisees could not discern the signs of the times because they were too full of false doctrine and worn out beliefs. So were his disciples and the huge crowds of people he attracted with his fresh teachings. This is our problem today, too. Family patterns of belief and behavior sit in the place of the fresh truth that will set us free.
Jesus asked his disciples who people were saying he was, and called himself the Son of Man. He did this to reinforce the truth that he was like them, “in appearance as a man.” They answered what they had heard: People were saying that he was John the Baptist, Elijah, Jeremiah or a prophet. What an exciting time it was! People were talking about their teacher, saying that he was the rebirth of one of these great men. Then Jesus asked whom they thought he was. Only Simon Peter, the impulsive Aries, had the nerve to answer, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.
Jesus’ answer is famous: Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Peter, through the Spirit, had discerned the signs of the times and knew the truth. This is what we must do. We are two thousand years removed from our Messiah’s time on earth, walking with him, hearing him teach. The truth has not changed, but its appearance has.
What has been bound on earth for two millennia remains bound in heaven until someone speaks the Word to free it. What people have loosed on earth remains loose in heaven until someone speaks the word to bind it. On October 8, 2010, it was announced, “The Gates of Hell have been opened, and no one may close them.” The Antichrist has spoken the word to open the reign of Hell on earth;. That sounds ominous, yet Jesus has assured us that “the Gates of Hell shall not prevail” against his church. However, that does not mean that the inhabitants of Hell will not attempt to overthrow the Christ’s teachings in our time. We are witnessing this today.
Christianity is under assault by the secular forces in society, who have taken up the Islamic star and crescent as their weapon. The atheists and secular humanists, the intellectual agnostics and those who want a world without God promote Islam as the deterrent to Christianity. Islam practices forced conversion over time. They never stop pushing for a totally religious government, ruled by shariah law their—religion, not ours.
Our law does not permit prayer in America’s schools, yet in the name of diversity, teachers, members of the socialist-imbued National Education Association, bus them to mosques where they are required to pray in Muslim fashion. It’s fashionable to sneer at the idea that the United State is a “Christian nation.” Media darlings rail against Christian offenses to their sensibilities and our supposed arrogance in claiming to be America’s main religion. Yet, in a September 2010 Pew Forum poll of 35,000+ American adults, the stats show that 77.9 percent of Americans claim that they are Christian.
Evil cloaks its activity using the words and terminology of the good to lie about anything and everything. Adolf Hitler wrote, in Mein Kampf, “In the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying.–Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf.
Hitler was the mouthpiece of evil, an authority on it. We are watching politicians and media figures tell big lies daily in the mainstream media. Thousands of bloggers have taken to the internet to counteract this fascist-socialist propaganda.
How can we deal with the Gates of Hell opening and the assault of Antichrist forces on our Christian beliefs? We must train ourselves out of being caught flatfooted and tongue-tied when confronted. The propagandist’s favored tactic is the “shout down.” They simply talk louder and right over whatever others are saying. Let them. Agree with God that this person is good in God’s eyes, and stop your response before you argue. Do not be disconcerted when they change the subject, another favored tactic. Breathe deeply when they distort the truth.
To say aloud, “Let there be Light” is often a conversation stopper. Say it and leave. So what if the other fellow has the last word? Edna Lister said that we should give the combative soul the first and the last words, because they are so pleased at hearing the sound of their own voice, they will never miss ours. They need to win; it is the balm to their empty souls and often bankrupt moral-ethical stance. Thank the Father, aloud, for having brought this lesson into your life. Bless the person who embodies the lesson or verbalizes it, saying, “Bless Joe Blow for having taught such a perfect lesson. Bless him for his vehemence. Bless everyone who heard him, those who agreed and those who disagreed with what he said. Please bless them all, Father. Let Light fill them to brim and overflow” (speak their names if you know them).
If the person has told or repeated lies, declare that the truth shall reveal the lies for the perversions of reality that they are. Declare that crosses of fire now seal the lips of one who speaks lies, wittingly or unwittingly. Name the person. Declare that his listeners will hear the deceit in his words; that they more keenly develop their truth sense and they can discern the lies. Declare that the spiritual gift of discerning truth is opening in all those souls whom they have misled. “Let Jane’s gift of discernment open fully, now.” Declare that Light heals the liar of his propensity to speak untruth and evil. Declare that Light heals all who have heard the evil and lies of any damage done to them by this and other liars and “truth perverts.” These are all legal forms of speaking the Word creatively and waging spiritual warfare without the use of force. When you are not sure, say “Let this be made good and very good! Let there be Light!”
This is how you foster that mind “which was also in Christ Jesus” within you. It is not robbery that you consider yourself Godlike in your spiritual qualities, for God has made you so. You must strive to become Christlike in your development, to use and express your Godlike powers of mind and soul to speak the Word for Light to move in and convert the evil and lies to the Good that God desires. Remember to speak the Word aloud and as soon after the event as possible.
This task is not too hard for the Elect, nor will it take too long to do. All you need is to fix your mind on God, keep your eye on the goal of becoming Christlike, and let God do the work as the Light when you speak the Word. This is what our beloved teacher, Edna Lister, has taught us to do. This is our end of our working agreement with God. We can do this!
Our efforts at speaking the Word for principle to dispel the lies have produced stunning results since August: Light has torn the veils hiding the corruption of political and business leaders aside. Even the mainstream media political hacks are beginning to report some real news. Polls show that Americans are angry about failed campaign promises, the phenomenal increase in unemployment and our national debt, and it’s obvious that we are not all “domestic terrorists.”
Government pork and corrupt business practices are under greater scrutiny now, and the media shills are unable to hide and whitewash all the stories because unpaid bloggers have taken up the cudgels. Good for them. Ordinary people are becoming activists for good, and for God. They are speaking the Word their way. We, who speak the Word consciously and deliberately, release immensely great Power as we do so. This is our sacred honor and task.
As living enasmples of the Light, we are ushering in the day when the whole world will know that God has highly exalted His Son, Christ Jesus, and “given him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
By our very being and expression of the richness and beauty of the pure Christ life and the mind that was in Christ Jesus, we are and shall lead the whole world into the Light of the One God—not by forcible conversion, curses or violence, not by political action, but by standing for and on the truth, as the truth of the Light. Our God is a God of love, not of hatred; our ritual is prayer and supplication, not beatings and beheadings.
So many atheists and agnostics have difficultly in reconciling the human and the divine. Those who are most judgmental have the greatest resistance to being judged and thus reject the divine, claiming that no moral imperative or absolute exists beyond their will and desire. We, who follow that great objective reality of the moral absolute, the One God of all good, follow the divine lodestone of our souls.
Those who reject divinity lack humanity; they use the wrong yardstick and always come up short. The Elect who surrender to the love of the One God of all, accept Christ’s sponsorship and our obligation to become more nearly like him in service daily.
Dorothy Sayers, a woman better known for her splendid Lord Peter Wimsey mystery novels than for her brilliant scholarship and translation of Dante’s Divine Comedy, wrote that Dante, in a flash of understanding, finally understood the mystery of Christ's divinity and humanity, and his soul became aligned with God's love:
"But already my desire and my will
were being turned like a wheel, all at one speed,
by the Love which moves the sun and the other stars."
–Paradiso, Canto XXXIII, lines 142-145, C. H. Sisson translation. (Dorothy L. Sayers, Paradise, notes on Canto XXXIII.)
As we pursue the Christ work of ascension and speak the Word, we approach the Source ever more closely. The Source, in turn, exerts its strong magnetic pull upon us, accelerating our ascension. Finally, as Dante exclaimed, our desire and our will are turned like a wheel, all at one speed, by the love that moves the sun and other stars.
The Gates of Hell may stand open, but Edna Lister said, “Nothing can escape the Power of Love!” Let us consciously influence the signs of the times: Day by day, expression by expression, word by word, breath by breath, we more consciously express God’s love, letting its Power move through us and as us. Let there be Light!
